Technical Lead / Software Development SME

About the role

We're seeking a highly experienced Technical Lead / Software Development SME based in the Metro DC area. This hands-on leadership role requires 12+ years of expertise in Java, Collibra, and Edge Server to design, develop, and integrate enterprise data solutions with a focus on metadata management, data ingestion pipelines, and automation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in federal IT projects, an active DHS clearance, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and compliant data governance solutions.

Job Responsibilities

Define and drive the technical roadmap for Collibra integration, Edge Server implementation, and data governance automation.
Oversee design, development, and deployment of solutions integrating Collibra API, Java microservices, and Edge Servers.
Lead implementation of event-driven data ingestion and automated metadata extraction workflows.
Ensure scalability, performance, security, and compliance of data governance solutions.
Implement authentication and authorization protocols such as OAuth, SAML, and LDAP.
Collaborate with Data Stewards, Enterprise Architects, and stakeholders to enforce data quality and governance policies.
Lead cross-functional teams and conduct technical workshops on metadata management best practices.
Drive Agile development and coordinate with DevOps for streamlined CI/CD deployments.
Leverage AI/ML capabilities for data quality monitoring and anomaly detection.
Mentor developers and provide technical direction on complex issues.

Job Requirements

12+ years of combined experience in Java and Edge Server. Experience with Collibra is preferred as well.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
4+ years of experience leading large-scale Federal IT projects.
Active DHS clearance and U.S. citizenship.
Proficiency in Java-based microservices and custom connector development.
Experience with event-driven ingestion tools such as Apache Kafka or AWS Glue.
Strong knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and automation best practices.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and CI/CD pipelines.
Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with Agile development and DevOps practices.
