Salary Range: $68,000 - $70,000 annually
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary

The Digital Media Specialist (DMS) supports the School’s academic programs by providing hands‑on training in multimedia storytelling, facilitating technical workshops, and assisting with the integration of digital media tools across the curriculum. Working closely with faculty, students, and technology staff, the DMS helps ensure effective use of video, audio, and photography technologies, including hardware, software, and digital publishing platforms.
This is a highly collaborative, execution‑focused role supporting instructional and production needs across the School.
This position operates in an academic and newsroom environment and may require occasional evening or weekend work to support classes and production deadlines.
Instructional Support & Training

Provide classroom support and technical instruction in multimedia tools and storytelling techniques
Facilitate workshops on video production, audio production, photography, and digital publishing tools and software
Deliver foundational skills training for incoming students, including August orientation sessions
Support seminar, workshop, and newsroom instructors with multimedia training and production
Curriculum & Classroom Support

Assist faculty and technology staff in integrating digital media tools into courses
Support multimedia classes, newsrooms, and workshops
Provide guidance to students on multimedia assignments and best practices
Production & Technical Support

Assist with video, audio, and photography production for coursework and school projects
Troubleshoot equipment, software, and workflow issues in classrooms and labs
Help maintain equipment and ensure readiness for instructional use
Resource Development

Contribute to the development of training materials and documentation
Share guidance on tools, workflows, and solutions to common technical issues
Stay current with emerging multimedia tools and platforms relevant to digital journalism
Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
2 years of relevant experience in digital media, journalism, or multimedia production
Demonstrated skills in video, audio, and photography production
Experience teaching technology, including hardware and software
Ability to teach and communicate technical concepts clearly
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a newsroom, media organization, or academic setting
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Premiere Pro, Audition, Photoshop)
Familiarity with multimedia distribution web sites and software
Experience with social media and digital publishing platforms
Experience with mobile content creation
