Band and Choir Director – Grades 7-12 (with some Elementary)

ISD 361 is seeking a progressive, energetic, and talented performing arts educator to lead and grow our music department and extracurricular music programming. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a thriving program and make a lasting impact on students from International Falls and the surrounding border community.
Position Overview

Direct 7th–12th grade Concert Band and Choir
Pep Band coordination and leadership
Solo & Ensemble preparation
Elementary music support as assigned
Individual and small group lessons
Assist with musical theatre productions
Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned band and choir instruction for grades 7–12
Organize and direct all school performances including concerts, pep band events, and community engagements
Prepare students for MN State High School League large group and solo & ensemble contests
Maintain and oversee district instruments and music equipment inventory
Build a culture of excellence, discipline, and joy in the performing arts
Recruit and retain students in the music program across all grade levels
Provide lessons and supports for individual and small group growth and development
Lead and perform band and choir program at ISD 361 events

Minimum Qualifications

Valid Minnesota teaching license in Instrumental Music (K–12) and/or Vocal Music (K–12)
Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field from an accredited institution
Meets all Minnesota Department of Education licensure and background check requirements
Preferred Qualifications

Dual licensure in both Instrumental and Vocal Music, strongly preferred
Experience directing concert band, jazz band, and/or show or concert choir
Demonstrated success in recruiting and building music programs
Experience with elementary music instruction and feeder program development
Background in musical theatre direction or accompaniment a plus
