Principal Android Audio Software Architect – Automotive Infotainment

We are seeking a Principal Android Audio Software Architect to lead the architecture, design, and implementation of next-generation infotainment audio platforms. This role will define the technical direction of Android audio across AOSP, Audio HAL, Linux kernel, DSP integration, and virtualization layers, enabling high‑quality, deterministic, and scalable audio solutions for automotive systems.

You will serve as a senior technical leader, collaborating with platform architects, silicon partners, and cross‑functional engineering teams to shape the long‑term vision of the infotainment audio stack.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and oversee the Android audio platform domain , defining strategies for:
  • Custom AOSP framework modifications
  • OEM‑specific SDK and platform extensions
  • Lead the design and architectural direction of:
  • Drive end‑to‑end audio quality improvements , working closely with:
  • Audio tuning teams
  • Test, validation, and automation stakeholders
  • Define and own the audio virtualization strategy within hypervisor‑based architectures , ensuring:
  • Deterministic behavior
  • Seamless integration between Android , QNX , and Automotive Linux
  • Architect and guide the integration of DSP audio pipelines , including:
  • Signal flow design
  • Tuning methodologies
  • Provide technical mentorship, design guidance, and code governance across development teams
  • Partner with domain architects and external technology partners to:
  • Define the long‑term vision and roadmap for the infotainment audio platform
  • Lead complex root cause analysis for critical system‑level issues related to audio, performance, and stability
  • Design system‑level solutions to:
  • Optimize boot‑up performance
  • Efficiently manage CPU, memory, and audio resources

Required Qualifications

  • Strong experience in Android audio architecture and AOSP framework development
  • Hands‑on expertise with:
  • Android Audio HAL (HIDL and/or AIDL)
  • Solid understanding of Linux kernel internals related to audio and performance
  • Experience working with automotive‑grade SoCs
  • Proven experience with virtualized systems and hypervisors , including cross‑OS communication
  • Strong background in DSP‑based audio processing and tuning workflows
  • Ability to lead system‑level architecture discussions and influence technical direction
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills with a track record of resolving complex system issues

Preferred Qualifications

  • Automotive infotainment experience (Android Automotive OS strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with real‑time systems and deterministic audio requirements
  • Experience partnering with silicon vendors and Tier‑1 suppliers
  • Prior experience in a technical leadership or architect role mentoring engineers

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range Minimum: $ 104,000 per year

Pay Range Maximum: $ 140,000 per year

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance‑based bonuses subject to company policies.
