Theater Director

Job Location: Hamilton High School
Job Type: Part-time
Job Goal: The Theater Director will lead the extra-curricular theater program at Hamilton High School under the leadership of the Supervisor of Fine Arts.
Reports to: Supervisor of Fine Arts
Essential Functions:
Serve as a role model for students
Encourage and inspire all students to grow, develop and be successful
Lay the foundation for life-long skills of commitment, resilience, and responsibility
Establish procedures that address all safety concerns - workshop with scene shop manager
Train team members in the areas of safety and care for each other - workshop with scene shop manager
Hold monthly meetings: one with officers and one with drama club members
Explicitly teach and ensure professional standards for student performances - student theater
ot community
Embrace and teach the philosophy of working together and contributing to a purpose larger than oneself - focus on high school students
Serve as the Artistic Director
Select plays for student performance. Fall play due end of May/Musical due end of September
Lead all rehearsals (multiple times per week during production)
Coach actors
Produce shows (at least two)
Create set design - due 5 days after show approved/turn in to scene shop manager to place order
Oversee the budget - work with HPAA
Set ticket prices - work with HPAA
Select performance dates and times with Fine Arts director
Develop a marketing and advertising strategy for the production
Assume responsibility for make-up design
Lead costume crew - costume and prop list due 5 days after auditions
Assume responsibility for light design
Secure and coordinate with sound engineer
Recruit students for productions
Communicate with students and parents - google classroom and Final Forms
Qualifications Profile:
Background in the Performing Arts
High-quality oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational and planning skills
Open to new ideas and the ability to adapt to change
Awareness of, and appreciation for, individual uniqueness and diversity
Awareness of safety concerns and risk management
Pupil Activity Permit: requirements established by the HCSD Board of Education
Conduct:
