Magnolia Bible Church is seeking a passionate and mission-driven Sports Ministry Director to lead and grow a dynamic outreach to kids and families through sports. This role focuses on recruiting, training, discipling, and empowering volunteer coaches to create a positive, Christ-centered sports experience. The ideal candidate will have a heart for developing others, a love for working with children and families, and a vision for using sports as a platform to glorify God and share the Gospel. This position goes beyond organizing leagues—it’s about building relationships, shaping character, and creating an environment where both athletic skills and spiritual growth are cultivated.
General Purpose of Position
The Director of Sports Ministries will oversee the development, execution, and growth of all church-based athletic programs including soccer, football, pickleball, basketball, softball, and volleyball. This role exists to create high-quality, Christ-centered sports environments that foster community, outreach, and discipleship.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, launch, and manage seasonal leagues and clinics.
Develop annual sports ministry calendar.
Oversee scheduling, registration, and league operations.
Recruit and train coaches, referees, and team volunteers.
Provide spiritual leadership and devotional resources to coaches.
The Sports Director will actively engage with athletes, coaches, and parents to foster strong relationships, clear communication, and a unified vision for each program.
Equip and support parents to model encouragement, sportsmanship, and Christ-like behavior both on and off the field.
Develop and manage annual sports ministry budget.
Set and manage sport registration fees.
Integrate prayer, devotionals, and faith conversations into leagues.
Coordinate field/gym usage and maintenance.
Oversee equipment purchases and safety compliance.
Promote leagues internally and externally.
Proficiencies & Skills
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Strong decision-making and conflict management skills are essential
Must have certification in CPR & First Aid
Experience managing leagues or athletic programs.
Ability to recruit and lead volunteers.
Financial management capability.
Strong relational and evangelistic mindset.
Agreement with church doctrine and mission.
