Publicity Manager – HarperCollins Publishers Australia
Location: Sydney NSW, Full‑time
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the Adult Books publicity team delivering top‑tier publicity campaigns.
- Work closely with publishing, marketing and sales teams to create innovative and impactful publicity strategies for authors.
- Plan and implement fully integrated publicity campaigns for local and international authors in the Adult Books division.
- Organise, execute, and attend author launches, events and national tours to enhance author visibility and maximise sales.
- Write media materials for internal and external use.
- Participate in acquisition and covers meetings.
- Cultivate strong relationships with internal stakeholders, NewsCorp Australia, authors, agents, book‑solders, and media.
- Oversee the year‑round schedule of author participation at national writers' festivals.
- Attend writers' festivals and conferences.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable publicity background working in publishing, the arts or a similar sector.
- Experience managing and leading a successful publicity team.
- Knowledge of the Australian media market and ability to build relationships across media.
- Excellent market and commercial knowledge, keeping up to date with trends, news and the wider cultural landscape.
- Exceptional time management and planning skills, able to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.
- Attentive to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Requirements for Success
To be effective in this role, you will have experience working on fully integrated and dynamic publicity campaigns, organising and managing author tours and events, excellent interpersonal skills, and a positive, self‑motivated attitude with a keen interest in books.
