Position Overview
The Advertising & Promotion (A&P) Finance Manager is a strategic finance leader and trusted business partner to Marketing and Commercial leadership across the US and Canada Consumer and Flavor businesses. This role goes beyond financial oversight to shape investment strategy, enable data-driven decision making, and drive transformational change in how marketing dollars are allocated and optimized, while ensuring strong financial governance and controls over high volume of marketing investments.

The successful candidate will lead a high-performing team, influence senior stakeholders, and champion continuous improvement across planning, forecasting, analytics, and governance processes. This leader will play a critical role in strengthening financial rigor, elevating organizational capability, and ensuring marketing investments generate sustainable growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnership & Influence

Serve as the primary finance partner to Marketing Excellence and Marketing Operations leadership, influencing A&P strategy, investment allocation, and ROI optimization.

Proactively challenge and shape commercial decisions through forward-looking insights, scenario modeling, and risk assessment.

Lead financial evaluation of strategic marketing initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise growth objectives.

Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for senior leaders to support critical decision making.

Lead cross-functional business planning processes including Strategic Plan, Annual Operating Plan, and quarterly forecasts for A&P.

Own end-to-end A&P financial performance management, including forecasting, variance analysis, and risk mitigation.

Establish clear performance metrics and reporting frameworks that drive accountability and transparency.

Partner with Commercial and Finance leadership to identify trade-offs and reallocate investments to maximize return.

Champion modernization of A&P analytics, tools, and processes (e.g., automation, dashboarding and forecasting process improvement) to enhance speed, accuracy, and business impact.

Identify and lead process simplification, automation, and standardization initiatives.

Strengthen financial governance while enabling agility in marketing investment decisions.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement aligned to McCormick Growth Behaviors and company values.

People Leadership & Organizational Capability

Lead, coach, and develop a team of finance professionals based in Mexico City, fostering strong business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities.

Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback to drive high engagement and accountability.

Develop succession and capability plans to strengthen the broader finance talent pipeline.

Model a collaborative, inclusive, and enterprise mindset.

Governance & Controls

Ensure a strong and sustainable internal control environment across marketing related spend areas (e.g., advertising, promotions, royalties, and coupons) including SOX compliance, balance sheet integrity and audit readiness.

Balance risk management with commercial agility to enable smart decision making.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field

Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in Finance, Accounting, or business analytics roles

Demonstrated experience serving as a strategic business partner to senior stakeholders

Experience leading cross-functional planning processes (Annual Plan, Forecast, Strategic Plan)

Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities

Advanced Excel proficiency; working knowledge of TM1 and SAP/BW preferred

Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge constructively

Proven ability to lead through ambiguity and drive change

Preferred Qualifications

MBA and/or CPA

Prior people leadership experience (minimum 2 years preferred)

Experience leading transformation or system/process improvement initiatives

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan.
