Communications & Marketing Intern
Assists with print and digital storytelling, learns nonprofit communications and marketing, and raises awareness of the mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with finding stories
Meet with program managers, case managers, and frontline staff about potential client stories
Assist with internal and external communications
Monthly client flyer, staff emails, monthly newsletter, etc.
Assist with website
Update articles, photos, and content
Assist with digital analytics
Track engagement with social media, website, emails, etc.
Assist with photography and videos
Volunteer, staff, or event opportunities
Event communications support
Prepare a presentation on what was learned in the 8 weeks to present to the leadership team at the conclusion of the internship
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Commitment to the mission, values and goals of SVDP
Knowledge of social media platforms
Experience with graphic design using Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva (preferred)
Requirements – Education, Qualifications, and Certifications
High School Diploma
Four (4) years of experience (preferred)
Pursuing a degree in communications, journalism, media, marketing, or related fields
A combination of education, training, and experience that results in demonstrated efficiency in performing the work may be substituted
Successfully pass any required pre-employment background and drug screening
Valid Driver’s License
