Department Summary
The UCLA International Institute educates students, supports scholarship on the world at UCLA and serves as a campus and community resource. With a history dating back to 1958, the Institute is the central hub for global and area studies on campus. Its more than 27 centers and programs support innovative multidisciplinary research on specific world regions and pressing global issues. Its rigorous academic programs offer degrees in global studies, international development, global health, international migration and diverse regions and countries of the world. The UCLA International Institute is directed by a senior management team led by the Vice Provost for International Studies and Global Engagement, two Associate Vice Provosts and two Assistant Vice Provosts. The Office of the Vice Provost develops and implements UCLA’s global strategy, manages the university’s partnership agreements with foreign educational and research institutions, and represents UCLA to international constituencies and organizations.

Position Summary
The Digital Communications Coordinator produces and manages content for the International Institute's Y&S Nazarian Center for Israel Studies website, digital newsletter, social media, and email marketing. Writes news items, and selects/creates graphics and photos for advertising the Center's events. Executes social media campaigns, and oversees Facebook, X, and other social media channels to communicate the Center's goals, promote initiatives, and engage with and build the audience for the Center. Tracks key social media, website and email metrics to assess effectiveness of the Center's outreach efforts. The Coordinator also manages the technical aspects of the Center's online (Zoom) webinars, briefings and podcasts, and edits and posts video and audio recordings on the website and YouTube. Builds relationships with print and broadcast media outlets to promote the Center as a source of expertise on Israel. Works collaboratively with the Center director and other Center staff, and with the UCLA International Institute IT and communications staff; trains and coordinates the work of social media student volunteers. Displays a positive attitude and is a team player to work supportively within a small organization. Assists with special digital projects as needed.

Salary & Compensation
UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common.

Qualifications

Strong computer skills. Demonstrated experience with managing information dissemination/advertising on social media platforms. (Required)

Strong English writing and editing skills for drafting effective and grammatically correct news articles, posts, and reports. (Required)

Demonstrated experience writing for digital or print publications. (Required)

Knowledge of design/graphics programs, such as InDesign and Photoshop. Basic knowledge of HTML. (Required)

Strong organizational skills to set priorities and work effectively toward Center goals and objectives. (Required)

Strong oral communication skills to obtain and convey information clearly and to interact with individuals at various levels professionally and diplomatically. (Required)

Interpersonal skills to relate effectively, professionally, and diplomatically with a broad range of individuals, including UCLA faculty, staff and students from all backgrounds. (Required)

Skill in performing against deadlines with frequent interruptions and competing priorities. (Required)

BA degree. (Preferred)

Interest in, and some knowledge of Israel and Middle East. (Preferred)

Knowledge of Los Angeles Jewish community. (Preferred)

Knowledge of video/audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Elements; Audacity). (Preferred)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. (Required)
