Position Overview
This is not a passive internship. We are looking for a paid Marketing Intern who can take ownership of our social media presence, create compelling digital content, and think strategically about how and where our story shows up.

You will play a direct role in increasing visibility, engagement, and participation across our programs by turning real moments into meaningful digital experiences.

Social Media Management

Own day-to-day management of social platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Youtube, etc.)

Plan, schedule, and publish content aligned with organizational priorities

Engage with followers, respond to messages, and build community

Analyze performance and provide weekly insights to improve reach and engagement

Content Creation

Design graphics, write captions, and produce short-form video content (Reels, TikTok-style, etc.)

Capture content at programs, events, and behind-the-scenes moments

Maintain a consistent and compelling brand voice and visual identity

Tell authentic stories that highlight participants, impact, and partnerships

Strategic Marketing Placement

Identify opportunities to expand reach through partnerships, collaborations, and cross-posting

Support marketing campaigns for events, programs, and key initiatives such as fundraisers

Recommend strategies to increase visibility and audience growth

Setup Full Website SEO and social media integration for analytic tracking in both directions

Research trends, tools, and platforms to keep the organization competitive and relevant

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) & Monthly Metrics
Growth Metrics

Increase social media followers by

5–10% per month

across key platforms

Expand reach and impressions by

10–20% month-over-month

Engagement Metrics

Maintain or improve engagement rate (likes, comments, shares, saves) to

3–6%+ per post

Increase video views and completion rates, especially for short-form content (Reels)

Content Output

Publish

12–20 high-quality posts per month

(3-5 per week) (mix of graphics, video, and storytelling content)

Edit long form video for special events and fundraising campaigns (Youtube), no more than

4 annually

Supporting of annual updates to organizational brochures, for volunteers, programs and or specific strategic partnerships.

Conversion & Impact Metrics

Drive measurable traffic to website, event registrations, or program applications

Track link clicks, sign-ups, and inquiries generated from social media

Support increased attendance and awareness for programs and events

Brand & Visibility Metrics

Secure

at least 1 strategic collaboration or cross-posting opportunities per month

Increase mentions, tags, and shares from partners and community members

Reporting

Deliver a

monthly marketing performance report

with insights, trends, and recommendations

Present at least

1 strategic improvement or campaign ideas per month

based on data

Logistics

Meet monthly with executive leadership to review 30-day content plan and secure approvals preferred in person

Meet Monthly with executive leadership to review monthly report and recommendations preferred in person

Work remote for all work functions beyond content and report review

Effective use of BGDSTEM’s project management tool Click-up for daily/weekly communication

Available on 2-3 Saturdays through semester/year during general programming time 10am-2pm for content collection and organizational program knowledge

BGDSTEM hires photography and videography but it is strongly recommended that you see our programming with youth in person to best understand our brand and create effective content.

BGDSTEM has an end of year showcase every October and strongly encourages marketing teams and interns working with us to prioritize attending.

Qualifications

Current student or recent graduate in Marketing, Communications, Media, or related field

Demonstrated experience managing or contributing to social media accounts

Strong content creation skills (Canva, Adobe Suite, CapCut, or similar tools)

Understanding of social media analytics and performance metrics

Excellent writing and storytelling ability

Highly organized, self-directed, and able to meet deadlines

Believe in the BGD STEM Mission and Values

Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing a brand, nonprofit, or campus organization account

Video editing and short-form storytelling experience

Familiarity with content calendars, scheduling tools, and email marketing platforms

Interest in mission-driven marketing and community impact
