Responsibilities:
Excellent employment opportunity for a Production Technician in the Fuquay Varina, NC area.
Under the direction of the Group Leader, Raleigh Sites the incumbent will perform or assist in the performance of all duties involved in the manufacture of live vaccine bulk antigens.
Reporting to the Raleigh Sites Group Leader, the incumbent receives minimal direction for routine functions and is guided by production schedules, batch records and controlled documents.
Oversees and cares for animals used in the production of live vaccines.
Ensures that all animals are cared for in a manner consistent with company's policies and procedures.
Upon termination of the production cycle in which live animals are used, the incumbent will ensure that the animals are euthanized in a manner prescribed by company.
Responsible for performing or assisting in the performance of the harvesting, blending, screening, centrifuging, sporulation and counting steps required to produce bulk antigens.
Ability to lift / push/ pull 50 lbs. and carry it at least 10-40 feet.
Operates all equipment within a manner prescribed by manufacturer's recommendations or as documented in controlled documents.
Reports any abnormal functions of the equipment to Maintenance/Group Leader.
Cleans and disinfects all equipment in accordance with documented procedures and inspects before use to ensure that it has been properly cleaned and ready for the prescribed use.
Maintains accurate and timely manufacturing records which include all paperwork and files.
Can complete all calculations required within the manufacturing record.
Performs duties in accordance with all federal, state, local and company regulations, SOPs and guidelines.
Drives company vehicles to pick up raw materials and lab supplies.
Will Need clean MVR.
Assists when needed with equipment and facilities maintenance.
Performs, as assigned, miscellaneous incidental duties and temporary jobs within the facility or at theFarms .
Maintains a clean, neat and orderly work area.
Assists in maintaining the security of the facility.
Recognizes and understands the importance of company standards and goals regarding Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) in area of responsibility and focuses behavior in a manner consistent with those standards and goals.
May not own or have contact with other birds or poultry.
Avian Biosecurity Policy
It is the responsibility of all Animal Health employees to take necessary steps to avoid contact with the avian species in general.
This includes, but is not limited to, commercial poultry, yard chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, wild birds and pet birds.
Should contact occur, precautions must be taken prior to entering a critical building or location.
Anyone coming into contact with the avian species should not enter into a critical building or location for 72 hours unless they have showered, changed clothes and shoes.
Typical hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm M-F, however, this position may require working weekends along with flexible shift hours when needed. Must be able to work a rotating weekend schedule.
Experience:
2-3 years of experience working with animals preferred. Experience working with poultry preferred.
High School Diploma 3+ years of experience working with animals preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent
Previous animal care experience is preferred but not necessary.
Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Able to operate and train other employees on all tasks necessary to perform required job functions and ensures biosecurity practices are maintained at the site.
Multiple head-to-toe, full body (hair included) showers DAILY are required.
Attention to detail and ability to document work perform.
Ability to read and understand SOP's and guidelines and ensure adherence to them.
Must be a team player.
Ability to lift / push/ pull 50 lbs. and carry it at least 10-40 feet.
Must be able to squat, bend, and stoop, as well as twisting and turning.
Able to stand on feet for long periods of time.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity are important.
Drive a non CDL
Basic computer skills.
Must be able to lift 70 lbs.

Ability to maneuver heavy carts on various terranes.
Must be able to work in a dusty and hot or cold environment.

Must have and maintain a clean driving record.
Must not own poultry or pet birds and not reside in the same household with someone who does.
May not own or have contact with other birds or poultry.
Follow all SOPs, Guidelines, Specs, etc. along with all federal, state, local and company regulations.
Preferred: 2-3 years of Avian experience Self-motivated.
Mathematical skills. Mechanical background.
