The Director of Marketing and Communications provides strategic leadership for Silver Key's brand, messaging, and public presence, ensuring alignment between the organization's mission, programs, and long-term strategic direction.
This role advances Silver Key's position as a community hub that centers older adults while connecting generations through services, relationships, and shared experiences. The Director develops and implements integrated marketing and communications strategies that support program growth, community engagement, partnerships, and fundraising.
Working closely with executive leadership, directors, and cross-functional teams, this role ensures that communications are not siloed, but instead serve as a unifying force that strengthens internal alignment and amplifies external impact.
This role ensures that Silver Key's communications are not just informative-but strategic-by aligning messaging, partnerships, and funding narratives into a cohesive story that strengthens the organization's impact and long-term sustainability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Organizational Alignment
Develop and implement an integrated marketing and communications strategy aligned with Silver Key's strategic priorities
Partner with executive leadership and program directors to ensure alignment between communications, operations, and organizational goals
Support cross-department consistency in messaging and program representation
Contribute to organizational strategy by identifying opportunities to strengthen visibility, engagement, and impact
Brand Management & Narrative Development
Maintain and evolve a cohesive and compelling brand identity across all platforms
Lead the development of Silver Key's organizational narrative, ensuring it reflects mission, impact, and strategic direction
Ensure consistency in voice, messaging, and storytelling across programs and services
External Strategy & Community Positioning
Strengthen Silver Key's visibility and reputation within the community
Position the organization as a leader in older adult services and intergenerational community-building
Support the development and communication of strategic partnerships and community initiatives
Grants & Strategic Funding Support
Collaborate with development and program leaders to support grant proposals through compelling storytelling, impact framing, and clear communication of outcomes
Align communications with grant-funded initiatives to ensure clarity, compliance, and visibility
Translate program outcomes into narratives that support future funding opportunities and long-term sustainability
Ensure that funded initiatives are communicated in ways that reinforce Silver Key's broader strategic direction
Public Relations & Media Leadership
Serve as the primary media contact and organizational spokesperson
Build and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets, and community influencers
Lead proactive media engagement and manage reactive communications
Crisis Communications
Develop and lead communication strategies during crises or high-risk situations
Ensure messaging is timely, consistent, and aligned with organizational values and leadership direction
Digital Strategy & Content Execution
Oversee website, social media, email communications, and digital campaigns
Ensure digital platforms effectively support engagement, program awareness, and fundraising
Use analytics and performance data to refine strategies and improve effectiveness
Team & Project Management
Lead marketing staff, contractors, and vendors
Manage workflows, timelines, and budgets to ensure efficient execution
Establish clear priorities and accountability within the marketing function

Support to Organizational Growth
- Strengthens Silver Key's external positioning and community presence
- Supports successful grant acquisition and implementation through strong storytelling
- Advances the organization's role as a connected, intergenerational community hub

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Silver Key Senior Services is a drug-free organization. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen and background checks. Business-specific knowledge: Knowledge of Silver Key Senior Services mission statement, policies/procedures, business-specific software, and safety regulations. This position does require a background check by Colorado Adult Protective Services (CAPS).

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.
Bachelor's degree in related field.
3–5 years of relevant experience.

ECHNOLOGY PROFICIENCY
This position requires good proficiency in the use of computer software and applications, office equipment, and professional telephone use. The ability to adequately type quickly with few to no errors is also very important. This position will often require multi-tasking in the use of computers, phone, and office equipment while interacting with clients. Candidates for this position may be required to take and pass technology proficiency assessments prior to employment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical skills, statistical and mathematical abilities, and interpersonal skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write complex reports and distill information for many audiences. Proficiency in non-English languages is highly valued.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
You must possess and maintain a Colorado Driver's License
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires standing, walking and sitting for periods of time. Utilization of hands and fingers to operate office computer keyboard and equipment required. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, and stoop, kneel or crouch if needed. Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds as needed.
VISION REQUIREMENTS
Position requires close, distance and peripheral vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Moderate noise within business office atmosphere with computers, printers, and light traffic.
