Job Overview
Position: Manager IV – DRS UD (Unit Director) at Brenham State Supported Living Center in Brenham, Texas.
Salary: $6,416.67–$9,508.25 per month (Monthly).
Shift: Day (full‑time, exempt). Travel: up to 5%.

Responsibilities
The Unit Director leads a cluster of homes at a State Supported Living Center, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality residential and behavioral services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Core duties include:
- Administering and overseeing daily operations, programming, and activities of assigned homes.
- Coordinating and integrating 24‑hour residential services, behavioral treatment, nursing, medical, and intellectual disability services.
- Managing, scheduling, and supervising direct support staff, including DSPs, nurses, psychologists, behavioral technicians, and qualified intellectual disability professionals.
- Developing and maintaining quality improvement plans, ensuring compliance with the Department of Justice Settlement Agreement and all applicable state and federal regulations.
- Responding to crisis or emergency situations and taking immediate corrective action.
- Leading interdisciplinary team meetings and building staff capacity through training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
- Analyzing staffing and operational reports to identify trends and implement solutions for turnover, retention, and overtime.
- Acting in the role of Administrator on Duty in rotation and being on‑call as required.
Additional duties may include participation in disaster response, continuity‑of‑operations activities, and special projects or committees as assigned.
Essential Job Functions
Works on a regular workforce schedule with flexibility for overnight or weekend shifts, overtime, and on‑call rotations. Performs duties as outlined above and any other related tasks as delegated.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Two years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting.
- At least one year of experience leading, directing or managing multiple staff members.
- Alternatively, four years of experience in a residential setting with at least one year of leadership experience.
- Valid Texas driver’s license or required to obtain within 90 days of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of Texas Administrative Code, HHSC policies, the DOJ Settlement Agreement, and the Life Safety Code.
- Experience in delivering quality services and supports for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Familiarity with behavior support plans, skill acquisition plans, and psychiatric support plans.
- Understanding of medication management for behavior support and treatment tracking.
- Knowledge of trauma‑informed care and ICF/IID standards.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and agency software.
- Excellent communication skills for reports, presentations, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
