Organization Overview
IndyBaroque Music, Inc. is a nonprofit organization supporting the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra, the city’s only period-instrument ensemble. Using period instruments and historically informed performance practice, the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra enriches audiences of all backgrounds through exceptional performances, educational outreach, and meaningful community partnerships.
Position Summary
The Managing Director (MD) is the organization’s primary administrative and operational leader. This role oversees daily operations, finances, concert production logistics, and organizational coordination while working closely with artistic leadership, staff, and the Board. The MD ensures effective execution of concerts, partnerships, and long-term strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Administration- Serve as central coordinator for organizational operations
- Manage communications, board meeting support, and reporting
- Maintain policies, compliance, and organizational records
- Implement strategic plans and manage timelines for programs and grants
- Develop and manage budgets, expenses, and revenue tracking
- Oversee financial transactions, reporting, and compliance filings
- Coordinate with accountant and manage vendor relationships
- Maintain donor records and issue tax receipts
- Coordinate scheduling of rehearsals, performances, and events
- Support collaborations with cultural and educational partners
- Oversee program materials, marketing assets, and event logistics
- Participate in concerts and public-facing activities
- Manage ticketing systems, volunteers, and front-of-house operations
- Oversee patron experience, data tracking, and revenue analysis
- Support fundraising efforts, donor relations, and grant processes
- Assist with campaigns, reporting, and stewardship activities
- Provide content and coordination for marketing campaigns and social media
- Ensure accurate website and promotional materials
- Represent the organization at community events
- Coordinate team workflows and timelines
- Supervise contractors, vendors, and staff collaboration
Qualifications
Required:- Experience in nonprofit or arts administration
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
- Financial literacy and event coordination experience
- Collaborative mindset and commitment to the arts
- Experience with classical music, especially Baroque performance practice
- Familiarity with grants, CRM tools, and small nonprofits
- Based in Central Indiana
