The Global Insurance General Account team at Franklin Templeton is responsible for business development, client engagement and strategic relationship management activities across the insurance industry. Currently, Franklin Templeton manages $64 billion in General Account assets across multiple asset classes and investment strategies on our platform. Growing our Insurance GA assets has become a priority for our firm and we are embracing a One FT approach that brings together all of our investor capabilities to create compelling solutions for insurance firms.

What are the ongoing responsibilities?

Demonstrate expertise in the life, health, property & casualty, and reinsurance sectors, in areas including, but not limited to, ALM, customized benchmarking, RBC, book yield optimization, and statutory filings.

Develop and execute the sales strategy for Insurance General Account (GA) clients, with full accountability for business development and ongoing client relationships.

Manage and grow relationships with complex insurance clients, delivering highly customized investment strategies tailored to insurers and banks, utilizing the full platform of Franklin Templeton.

Champion a client‑centric approach to solution creation, emphasizing the bespoke nature of insurance mandates and the diversity of Franklin Templeton's solutions across the platform.

Partner closely with investment and solutions teams to meet insurance client needs.

Maintain detailed knowledge of the customized portfolios for each client, their regulatory regime(s), investment process, philosophy and performance, as well as keep current on investment strategies, market conditions and key occurrences in the global marketplace, in particular in the global insurance industry.

Identify and assess cross‑sale opportunities and determine appropriate investment solutions.

Embrace a client‑centric approach to solution creation, incorporating the highly‑customized nature of insurance company mandates.

Review and coordinate all client communications (reports, presentations, RFPs, RFIs, questionnaires, ad hoc requests, etc.).

Create, develop and deliver presentations to clients, coordinating the involvement of other relevant internal constituencies as needed.

Meet with clients frequently in order to gain knowledge, visibility and momentum in building a value‑added relationship, consistent with the Firm's premise that success covering the insurance industry requires a high‑touch approach.

Extensive travel is required to maintain strong client relationships and drive business growth.

What ideal qualifications would help someone to be successful?

Deep understanding of the unique characteristics of the insurance industry and how that impacts insurance investment management.

Proven leadership experience in insurance sales and client strategy, with a track record of driving growth and deepening client relationships.

Expert knowledge of regulatory and accounting frameworks that impact the investment management decision‑making process of companies in the insurance industry.

An articulated sales process with a track record of identifiable results that met or exceeded goals.

Strong relationship management and presentation skills.

Ability to manage complex clients, often multinational, and coordinate across functional areas of the firm and global offices.

A minimum of 10 years of experience servicing insurance clients with an investment firm, with direct involvement in sales strategy and execution.

Strong work ethic with the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and the ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives.

Undergraduate degree in Finance or related field. Master’s Degree / CFA a plus. Experience may offset academic requirements.

For U.S. candidates, we expect the base salary for this position to range between $190,000 - $225,000, depending on level of relevant experience, plus discretionary bonus.
