Communications Specialist

Salary: $7.50 per month


Responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of a wide range of Communications and Community Engagement strategies including social media, print media, campaigns, community engagement and event support aspects of the Communications and Community Engagement Department to ensure public and internal awareness and understanding of key city initiatives, current projects, and events. This position will perform duties to support, showcase and promote the City of Rosenberg building positive relationships with residents, visitors and the community.

Responsibilities

Plans, creates and manages original online content for the City’s social media channels.

Writes, designs and develops content for multiple communication channels, including the City's website, e-newsletters, news releases, presentations, internal and external communications and more.

Responsible for managing and maintaining the City’s website, including updates, content creation, and ensuring optimal performance and user experience.

Assists with photography and graphic design needs for the City

Assists with the City’s special events.

Coordinates with the department to ensure brand standards are present and consistent in all materials and communications; both internally and externally

Collaborates with and manages relationships with internal and external stakeholders as needed

Manages multiple projects independently with established deadlines

Performs multiple projects and meets deadlines without compromising quality and value of design work

Coordinates and ensures items are of the highest quality, easily available to staff, and delivered in a timely manner

Organizes and maintains the City’s photography database for ease of use, transmittal, and production

Plans and execute digital outreach strategies within the context of a larger communications strategy

Must be creative with an attention to detail, ability to multitask and ability to keep projects on target

Will be required to work outside of normal business hours for events

Will be required to do in-city travel

Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Communications, Media, Marketing, or a closely related field

One (1) year of paid work experience in communications and digital content

Demonstrated strong writing and presenting skills

Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software

Experience with a variety of photography equipment

OR

Three (3) years of paid work experience in communications and digital content

Demonstrated strong writing and presentation skills

Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software

Experience with a variety of photography equipment

Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License

Reliable transportation and liability insurance

Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of the following pre- employment checks:
