QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
- New Jersey School Administrator Certificate (preferred).
- New Jersey Teaching Certificate.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience, including proven success in professional development.
- Ability to create a District-level professional development plan and program.
- Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status as defined in N.J.A.C. 6A:9-9 Instructional certificates.
BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Superintendent's development of District leaders through monthly conferences and an annual Executive Staff retreat.
- Support the Deputy Superintendent's instructional initiatives, particularly the development of a monthly calendar of district professional development events.
- Collaborate with Executive Leadership, Directors, and Supervisors to ensure that staff development initiatives are data-driven.
- Ensure compliance of school leaders and teachers with State of New Jersey professional development requirements.
- Provide orientation and ongoing support for novice teachers through the State’s Mentor program.
- Facilitate continual learning through tuition reimbursement, summer study, workshops, National Teaching Standards Board Certification, and collaborative projects with local colleges.
- Review and approve tuition reimbursement applications and ensure eligibility compliance.
- Facilitate the work of District professional development committees.
- Help design and participate in District-wide PD activities to improve learning.
- Collaborate with the Office of Grants Development on proposal development and grant implementation.
- Oversee the implementation of a support program for veteran teachers.
- Support consultant-delivered PD services.
- Engage in school-wide and district-wide Staff Professional Development and Strategic Planning to build a shared vision, identify goals, and monitor progress.
- Respond to principals and department heads regarding customized PD and facilitation.
- Prepare and monitor the annual office budget.
