Job Summary
Responsible for originating creative and engaging content from various assets to drive customer engagement. Content is delivered through NEXCOM channels including web, email, social media, paid search, blogs, and print. Provides leadership on creative marketing projects, leads project teams, and supports development of Graphic Design associates.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to work independently or lead a project group, taking appropriate input from leadership and key stakeholders, operating within established brand standards, and delivering a final creative product that addresses the needs of the business while elevating overall execution.
- Mentor / train other designers in any/all areas related to daily designer responsibilities.
- Expand creative abilities beyond print and attain or work towards proficiency in digital, multimedia and other forms of design.
- Supervise photographic shoots to ensure consistency of brand standards and creative content. Work with marketing team to develop upfront creative briefs to more effectively communicate intent.
- Use Adobe Creative Suite to create engaging and creative content including catalogs, circulars, flyers, e‑mail, social media, blog, web design, internal presentations or special programs.
- Develop designs, layouts and animations for e‑mail, social media posts (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) and Google ads. Responsible for slicing and coding e‑mail in Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
- Develop web‑specific advertising that includes weekly panels (both static and animated), brand shops and gift guides. Work collaboratively with web production team to improve site experience.
- Conceptualize and execute layouts through collaborative meetings with various teams and based on input from multiple defined sources. Work with NEXCOM associates and designers to ensure an exciting user experience that leads to better overall results. May be required to develop several concepts within a project to maintain brand consistency, meet business objectives or improve customer experience.
- Promote NEXCOM branding standards and consistency across media in all projects.
- Review related input data for layouts/sequence/execution. Ensure the accuracy of delivery of all developed media, including all versions. Complete necessary versioning of layouts by media.
- Use notes from Merchandise Council meetings, promotional schedules and marketing leadership directions to create engaging content.
- Work with Content Management Specialists to develop copy specifications, headlines, pricing and other supporting content, with the objective of creating an engaging result with a great user experience within NEXCOM brand standards.
- Consult and direct outside photographers to ensure all photographic requirements (styling, model selection, background color, etc.) and merchandise accuracy comply with NEXCOM brand. Direct necessary lifestyle photography to create an emotional connection with customers.
- Estimate photography shoot expenses and determine necessary photography while adhering to established budgets.
- Review photography for color correctness and balance to ensure merchandise accuracy and engagement. Review proofs for thematic clarity, consistency and accuracy.
- Develop and prepare timely submission, production and distribution of assigned advertising materials.
- Understand pre‑press requirements (color correction, photo manipulation) and digital formatting requirements to ensure files meet all standards and templates.
- Seek opportunities for improvement with actionable outcomes.
- Engage as a strong member of the creative team with high energy, broad vision, influence and strong results orientation.
- Directly supervise up to 2 or 3 junior‑level Graphic Designers as needed.
- Travel is a requirement of this position.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
General Experience
3 years of professional technical or creative work involving photography retouching and Macintosh computer production, enabling knowledge of techniques and methods for developing advertising promotions and marketing materials.
Education Substitution
1 year of academic study above the highest school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience (up to a maximum of a 4‑year bachelor’s degree) in fine arts or related fields for 3 years of general experience.
Specialized Experience
- 3 years of experience creating layouts with Macintosh graphics and design computer systems.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Photoshop.
- Skills in developing and implementing various types of advertising promotional and marketing media (both electronic and print).
- Strong conceptual ability and expertise in developing layouts, designs and production management for multi‑layer marketing campaigns.
- Experience working within corporate and retailer style guides, proven leadership within the design team, self‑initiative and motivation to manage area of responsibility.
- Highly organized with excellent oral and written communication skills.
