About the Role
Mike McGilvary Roofing is hiring a Senior Videographer & Content Producer to own the visual storytelling of our brand. We consider ourselves the Rolls-Royce of roofing companies in South Florida, and we are looking for a craftsman behind the camera who matches that standard.
This is a creative storytelling role that brings roofing repair jobs to life through B‑roll of our crews and customers, drone footage, handheld documentary shots, and a long‑form podcast hosted by our owner. The format is intentionally repetitive — we are not reinventing a new style of filmmaking each week. Instead, we want a videographer who can take a proven framework and find fresh creative angles within it.
This is not an entry‑level position. It is also not a 40‑hour clock‑in, clock‑out job. We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the company, operates autonomously, and treats this work as a craft rather than a shift.
Video Production (~60%)
Manage the full production lifecycle: concept, scheduling, shooting, editing, and file organization.
Capture B‑roll on active job sites — crews working, materials, customer interactions, and the finished product.
Operate drone footage for aerial roof and property shots.
Shoot handheld documentary‑style footage on location.
Run our in‑house podcast studio: handle full setup, multi‑camera capture, audio, lighting, and post‑production for owner‑hosted episodes covering roofing jobs and roofing‑law education.
Editing standard: high‑end, educational, documentary tone. We do not want fast‑cut, heavily animated, TikTok‑style editing.
Software: Final Cut Pro X or Adobe Premiere Pro. CapCut is not used here.
Social Media Management (~30%)
Own our social media channels end‑to‑end — posting, captioning, scheduling, and channel growth.
Approximately 90 minutes of posting work on Saturdays, completable on your own schedule.
We do not run paid social ads. Growth is organic, and you will be expected to learn modern growth tactics using AI tools like ChatGPT during a paid self‑directed training period.
Our marketing strategy is built on earned media, not paid ads. This portion of the role fills any natural downtime between filming, editing, and posting — there should never be a dead hour on the clock.
Build relationships with local reporters, real‑estate agents, and media outlets.
Outreach via cold calls, LinkedIn networking, and email.
Once a relationship is warm, meet the contact at their office (bringing lunch) or take them out to lunch — your goal is to introduce them to the owner.
Earned‑media bonus: $1,000 bonus each time your outreach leads to an introduction that results in a published story about Mike McGilvary Roofing to a major outlet like the Sun Sentinel.
What We’re Looking For
Highly experienced videographer — this is not an entry‑level hire.
Demo reel required for consideration. Applications without a reel will not be reviewed.
Proficient in Final Cut Pro X or Adobe Premiere Pro.
Comfortable shooting drone, handheld, and multi‑camera podcast setups.
Strong storytelling instincts — you can find the human angle on a job site.
Self‑directed and organized. You manage your own files, your own calendar, and your own creative process.
Comfortable on the phone and in person for media outreach and relationship building.
Thrives in a high‑trust environment with no micromanagement.
Long‑term mindset — you want to grow inside the company, not bounce in 12 months.
What We Provide
Compensation: $60,000 base salary with bonuses up to $80,000
PTO: 4 weeks paid time off.
Company truck: take‑home, so there is no commute. For company use only.
Company credit card: for production, outreach lunches, and approved business expenses.
Paid lunches: issued as a perk for great work.
Equipment: We already own a drone and a full podcast studio. If you have your own production gear (camera, microphone, laptop), a stipend is available to use your own kit. Otherwise, all required equipment will be purchased for you upon hire.
Earned‑media bonuses: $1,000 per published story originated by your outreach.
Approximately 45–55 hours per week.
95% in the field. Roughly 90 minutes of social‑posting work on Saturdays, on your own schedule.
Flexible daily hours: some days run 10am–8pm depending on the job schedule. Roofing jobs delay; the workday flexes with them.
Where you work: primarily on job sites in the company truck. When jobs are delayed and you need to stay nearby, you can work from home, from the truck, or from a local coffee shop — whatever keeps you closest to the next shoot.
Autonomy: this is a high‑trust position. We do not micromanage. We expect you to manage yourself.
Important to Know
No side hustles. This is a fully all‑in role. Outside freelance video work, side businesses, or competing client work is not permitted.
Quality over quantity. We are the Rolls‑Royce of roofing in our market. Our content has to reflect that standard — every shot, every cut, every post.
This is not a clock‑in / clock‑out job. If that’s what you’re looking for, this isn’t the right fit.
You must be comfortable climbing onto residential roofs and filming safely
