Front-End Developer (Next.js / React)

Pay Rate: $60.00 - $65.00per hr.
We are looking for a skilled Senior Front-End Developer to join the Gospel Library Online team. This role will focus on augmenting our front-end development capacity and playing a key role in a major modernization effort — refactoring our legacy HTML, CSS, and JavaScript codebase into a modern Next.js and React infrastructure.
The ideal candidate is a strong Next.js and React developer with experience in AWS serverless technologies and Content Delivery Networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and contribute to the refactoring of legacy front-end applications into a modern Next.js + React architecture
- Develop and deliver high-quality, maintainable front-end features and components
- Participate in two-week Scrum sprints, providing accurate story point estimates and meeting upfront deliverable commitments
- Help maintain and prioritize a healthy product backlog of features and bugs
- Create technical prototypes and proof-of-concept demonstrations for architectural decisions
- Collaborate with the Solution Manager(s) to deliver iterative improvements in functionality, reliability, and performance
- Provide support for development tooling, infrastructure, and team processes
- Contribute to release roadmaps and deliver regular reports on project progress, costs, and completion status
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience
- Strong proficiency in Next.js and React
- Solid experience with modern front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript)
- Experience with AWS serverless implementations (Lambda, S3, CloudFront, etc.)
- Familiarity with Content Delivery Networks (CDNs)
- Experience working in a Scrum environment with two-week sprints
- Strong ability to provide accurate estimates and deliver on sprint commitments
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Bonus Skills:
- Previous experience modernizing legacy front-end codebases
- Experience with large-scale content platforms or digital libraries
- Knowledge of performance optimization and accessibility best practices
