Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Public Relations & Social Media to lead brand storytelling, media relations, social engagement, and influencers. This role will shape how our brand shows up in culture—driving awareness, relevance, and affinity across earned and owned channels.
The ideal candidate blends sharp PR instincts with modern social fluency—someone who understands how to turn menu launches, brand moments, and cultural trends into conversation‑driving content and coverage.
Key Responsibilities
Public Relations Strategy & Execution
Develop and lead a comprehensive PR strategy that supports brand, product, and business objectives
Own national and local media relations, building strong relationships with journalists, influencers, and industry partners
Drive press coverage for new store openings, menu innovations, partnerships, and brand campaigns
Oversee agency partners and ensure alignment with brand voice and priorities
Manage crisis communications and protect brand reputation
Develop social media and influencer strategy that puts Jersey Mike’s at the center of culture while maintaining the integrity of our brand strategy
Define and execute a best‑in‑class social media strategy across platforms (Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, etc.)
Lead content strategy, editorial calendar, and real‑time engagement
Implement brand ambassador program that turns our biggest fans into advocates
Partner with creative and marketing teams to produce high‑performing, platform‑native content
Oversee community management and customer engagement strategy
Oversee influencer strategy and management
Brand & Campaign Integration
Partner cross‑functionally with marketing, culinary, operations, and franchise teams to amplify key initiatives
Ensure consistent brand voice and storytelling across all channels
Lead influencer and creator partnerships to extend reach and credibility
Internal Communications
Design an internal (home office) and franchisee communications strategy that ensures all team members and franchise owners are properly informed and have the right cadence of communication flowing
Lead the development and execution of internal all‑hands meetings as well as franchisee webinars and national conference
Analytics & Performance
Establish KPIs for PR and social performance (reach, engagement, sentiment, share of voice)
Analyze performance and optimize strategies based on insightsReport results and key learnings to executive leadership
Build, lead, and mentor a high‑performing PR and social media team
Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and speed
Manage budgets and resource allocation effectively
Qualifications
8–12+ years of experience in public relations, social media, or integrated communications
Experience in restaurant, hospitality, retail, or consumer brands strongly preferred
Proven track record of securing high‑impact media coverage and leading successful social strategies
Deep understanding of social platforms, content trends, and influencer ecosystems
Strong crisis communication experience
Experience running internal communications
Exceptional storytelling, writing, and communication skills
