Job Description Summary

Makerspace Creative Assistants will help the daily operation of the Wilson Library Makerspace, an experiential learning space. This position is responsible for supporting the usage of 3D printers, laser cutter, Button Maker, Cricut, Arduino. No prior experience required.

Training will be provided.

Specific Duties
Maintaining Wilson Library Makerspace including providing technical support for 3D printers, laser cutters, 3D scanners, button makers, IoT devices and DIY craft equipment.
Provide instructions, orientations, workshops on makerspace technologies.
Assist in researching emerging technologies for faculty and students to use to enhance their teaching and/or learning experience.
Assist in community engagement activities such as Maker Fair, Robotic Summer Camps as well as providing solutions to solve real life problems using IoT devices, Raspberry Pi; etc.
Other duties as assigned by Wilson Library professional staff.
Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of computer programs such as: Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
Interested in learning new skills and technology.
Organized, detail-oriented, and accountable with a well-developed self-management skill set.
Utilize strong written and oral communication skills to build strong supportive working relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
Ability to take initiative, work independently, problem-solve, and adapt quickly in a busy work environment.
Must be a current ULV student.

Preferred Qualifications
Technologically savvy.
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom)
Enjoys creating/making (i.e. DIY projects, crafting, painting, drawing, sewing, etc.)
Knowledge of media such as photography, video shooting/editing.

Benefits Summary

Employees are eligible for the following benefits:

One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.

University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan - can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds.

In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.

Covered under the University of La Verne Workers Compensation Insurance.
