Overview

Auburn Advancement is excited to begin the search for a Social Media Specialist to join our Communications team! This position plays an important role in strengthening Auburn's digital presence by creating engaging content, fostering meaningful audience connections, and supporting the university's broader storytelling and philanthropic mission.

What You'll Do:

Create & Publish Content: Develop, edit, and post social media content aligned with Auburn's brand and accessibility standards.

Support Content Planning: Maintain editorial calendars and schedule content for assigned units, programs, and initiatives.

Engage Audiences: Monitor channels, respond to comments and messages, and support community engagement across platforms.

Gather & Share Stories: Collect photos, videos, and content from campus partners to highlight Auburn's programs and impact.

Track Performance: Monitor basic metrics (reach, engagement, growth) and support routine reporting.

Responsibilities

Supports the planning and execution of social media content across Advancement by assisting with editorial calendars, content development, and timely audience engagement in alignment with strategic priorities.

Contributes to the implementation of channel strategies and campaigns designed to strengthen brand awareness, expand audience reach, and support engagement and philanthropic initiatives.

Collaborates with Advancement teams and university partners to integrate social media into broader communications efforts, helping ensure alignment, consistency, and appropriate amplification.

Works with advancement staff and alumni partners to help identify and develop storytelling opportunities that highlight impact, informed by awareness of trends and platform best practices.

Assists with monitoring and reviewing social media performance metrics and supports the preparation of regular reports to inform ongoing improvements.

Supports content publishing, audience engagement, and paid social efforts, including assisting with campaign setup, content coordination, audience targeting support, and performance review as directed.
