Job Description
The Senior Brand Strategist helps represent the consumer, brand, and business. This role will contribute across a diverse array of strategic areas, including research, insights, strategic grounding, and creative development. The position works closely with the agency’s strategic lead and serves as a significant support partner in developing the vision of the department’s practice.

Core Responsibilities
Strategic Acumen:

See the big picture and help develop strategic initiatives toward inspired solutions. Dig into a client’s business, understand category and cultural trends, and provide insight into the competitive landscape. Work with agency and client partners to position, platform, and messaging strategies that elevate and bring creative ideas into the world.

Creative Storytelling & Inspiration:

Synthesize and distill data, research, and cultural trends into inspiring and unexpected creative briefs. Use agency tools, collaborative ideation, and side-by-side partnerships with creative teams to deliver insights that raise the bar for creative work and unlock unexpected creative solutions.

Research and Insights:

Support the development of research deliverables under the direction of a Planning Director. Conduct online research as directed, attend interviews, and contribute learning and insights. Analyze qualitative and quantitative data—including audience segmentation, competitive research, and market data—to translate information into strategies that impact client brands.

Tools:

Core proficiency with software, tools, and templates applicable to Brand Strategy. Establish reusable templates for collaboration/workshop tools such as Miro, Mural, or Jamboard. Utilize research platforms such as MRI/Simmons, Netbase, Helixa, Statista, You.gov, Kantar, etc.

Leadership:

This is a leadership position. Bring a passion for what communication and creativity can achieve, contribute to intellectual products for the agency, and develop personal strengths that bring unexpected value to the planning department.

Deliverables:

Lead development of smaller-scale Brand Strategy deliverables such as Segments, Personas, Journey Maps, Core Brand Strategy outputs, Value Proposition, Positioning, Benefit Ladders, Brand Core outputs, and Creative Briefs. Manage Brand Foundations, Brand Identity Models, Cultural Narratives, research reports/POVs, communication mapping, and measurement plans.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s required, preferably in a social / human-oriented field (e.g., Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology) or in communication/marketing (e.g., Integrated Marketing, Brand Planning). A master’s degree or higher is desirable.

3 to 5 years of marketing experience, either in a creative agency or market research, working in a strategic insights function.

Experience outside of marketing and advertising that provides value, expertise, and fresh perspective to the agency (e.g., digital shop, ethnic agency, ethnography, research house, retail or promotions agency, university lab).

Excellent communication and writing skills.

Digital fluency is expected; familiarity with the latest trends and developments in social media and interactive media is required.

Experience with multicultural audiences is a plus.

Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial culture where creativity and data are highly valued.

Salary Range
$85,000.00 - $110,000.00
