Media Director

Our National Conversation, Los Angeles, CA, USA

Job type: Part Time

OUR NATIONAL CONVERSATION is a new kind of media outlet. We're nonpartisan, we believe in truth, we're all very civil, we just want to solve problems. Republicans, Democrats, Independents -- all are welcome here.
We are largely run by student interns, and we now want "more adults in the room." We seek 3-4 volunteers with real media experience -- podcast engineers, social media posters, video editors, graphic artists, creative directors, etc. You will help us manage our media department, with the help of a handful of interns. You will mentor them; they will learn from you.
We will pick one director but it's possible others could serve as assistant directors.
We have some very exciting projects in various states of readiness, but we have a hard time pushing them over the finish line. Students need direction and guidelines. That's where you come in.
Media Director
Attends meetings and communicates with team throughout the week using Slack, zoom, email, Google Drive
Helps with recruiting, team building, team management
Possesses experience in media production tasks/duties
Good with creative ideas students can follow
Oversees student team leaders
Can commit to 1 year of volunteer work (5-8 hours per week)

Our student media team holds a standing meeting every Tuesday at 6:30 EST. We might move this to an earlier time slot by a few hours, but this is what our meeting time is right now. This meeting usually runs around 40 minutes. You will need to be able to attend that meeting at that time if you want to pursue this.
You will get outstanding experience -- plus you'll be doing something good for America. You will be helping develop America's future leaders.
If we raise money, our intent is to start paying people, at least on a part-time basis, so this could turn into something more. Our ability to raise money will largely be a function of how good a job we're doing, so everyone's contribution matters. We think, with one big push, 2026 could be our breakout year.
