Multimedia Communications & Data Specialist (Level 2)

About CAST Schools Network:

The Centers for Applied Science and Technology is a 501(c)3 network of public‑partnership schools working with San Antonio area independent school districts. The CAST mission is to reinvent schooling to maximize options for students, while preparing them for the jobs of the future. CAST has 7 schools in four school districts; the nonprofit is governed by a board representing industry and civic leaders.

Position Summary:

CAST Schools seeks a talented and creative multimedia storyteller who operates at the intersection of data and communications. This role is responsible for collecting and managing data from partner school districts and translating those insights into clear, compelling stories that highlight impact and inform stakeholders. This position blends technical data work (collection and cleaning) with creative execution (digital storytelling, visual design, and content distribution). The ideal candidate is equally comfortable working in spreadsheets as they are building a narrative or designing a visual. This role will be 60% Storytelling and 40% data.

Key Responsibilities:
Data Collection & Management

Develop and manage a structured data collection process across multiple partner school districts and campuses

Establish and maintain a data request calendar aligned to reporting cycles and organizational priorities

Respond to internal and external data requests in a timely and reliable manner

Support research goals and performance measures

Create a data rendering schedule and work with districts to secure requested data as well as preparing data for analysis

Select the appropriate representation of information making the data easier to understand and communicate

Storytelling

Refine the specific perspective and viewpoint of CAST

Create content that connects with the audience on a personal level

Integrate images, video, and audio to create a cohesive digital piece

Design stories to invite interaction, sharing, or reflection

Create communications collateral such as flyers, reports wi

Maintain web content such as newsletter and/or stories for websites.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related field

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

High degree of flexibility and adaptability

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficiency in Google Workspace: (Drive, Sheets, Docs) and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Experience using and pulling data from data tools such as Salesforce, PowerBI, Ascender, etc

Prior experience with Adobe Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator)

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Master’s Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, Communications, Graphic Design or related field.

5+ years of experience in graphic design, marketing, communications preferably in education or the non‑profit sector.

2+ years of working with data

Experience with Salesforce or other CRM database systems

Familiarity with Asana or similar project management software

Experience with Canva, Adobe Suite, or other design applications
