The Communications and Marketing Associate at Augusta University works closely with the Communications and Marketing office to maintain a positive public image, promote college programs, and publicize student and faculty achievements in alignment with university standards.
Responsibilities
Event Management: Provide assistance in planning, organizing, and carrying out all college events throughout the year; generate content to advertise and market events and provide appropriate post‑event coverage to appropriate constituencies.
Newsletters & Electronic Communications: Utilize templates and tools to create, design, and produce print and digital issues of the college’s newsletters and annual report; electronically distribute newsletters and other communications; meet content deadlines based on production schedules.
Communications & Marketing Strategy and Planning: Maintain situational awareness of college priorities; exercise professional judgment to develop and carry out communications and marketing initiatives; present strategies to the dean and leadership team.
Content Development and Management: Serve as the primary point of contact with college subject matter experts; capture, draft, and edit information for various outlets (website, Jagwire, newsletters, social media, etc.); schedule, coordinate, and implement communication meetings; select photography and videography; maintain a growing digital content library.
Website Management: Conduct routine reviews of website content; update content as needed; implement plans outlined in web governance; work with technology staff to ensure ongoing improvement of the website; identify and fix broken links or misspellings.
Social Media Management: Curate content for social channels; update content on social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.); actively monitor online reputation and recommend enhancements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
At least three years of direct, related communications/marketing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in marketing, public relations, strategic communications, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases; knowledge of general office procedures, operating systems, and spreadsheets; proficiency with graphic design and videography; familiarity with content management systems, Google Analytics, and web editing/publishing tools.
Skills: Excellent organizational and prioritization skills; demonstrated creativity and innovation; excellent verbal and written communication and storytelling; interpersonal and collaboration skills; proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, PremierePro), Acrobat Pro, web publishing tasks, HTML, CSS, typography; superior customer service; project management skills.
Abilities: Ability to maintain confidentiality; analytical ability; ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment; high professionalism; ability to work well under pressure and manage deadlines; detailed‑oriented; proficiency with various social media platforms; ability to use approved trade tools while understanding university policies and resources.
Shift, Salary & Benefits
Shift: Days Monday – Friday (work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Pay Band: B10; Salary: Minimum $52,500 annually, midpoint $54,080 annually; salary commensurate with qualifications within the range.
Recruitment Period: Until Filled.
