Agency Account Manager

Rocket Park, Granite Heights, WI, USA

Job type: Full Time

About Rocket Park
Rocket Park is a boutique web development and digital marketing agency serving national clients on long-term retainers. Our core differentiator is simple: developers and marketers under one roof. We are a small, experienced remote team that takes pride in doing quality work for clients who trust us with their online presence. We have been building long-term client relationships for over a decade, and we are growing.

About the Role
We are looking for an Account Manager to serve as the primary bridge between our clients and our development team. This is a critical role at Rocket Park. You will own day-to-day client relationships, translate client needs into clear and actionable work for our developers, and ensure projects move forward without bottlenecks.

Many of our clients run web applications and content-driven sites that require ongoing development, feature updates, and continuous improvement. This means the role carries real product ownership responsibilities alongside account management. You will maintain and prioritize client backlogs, write clear user stories and task briefs, and work closely with our development team to keep work moving in the right direction.

A key part of this role is owning the review process before work reaches the client. When the team completes a task or delivers an update, you are the last set of eyes. You confirm the work matches what was originally requested and understood, then decide whether it is ready to present to the client or needs to go back to the team. Clients have a single accountable point of contact who stands behind what gets delivered.

The right person for this role is a self-directed learner who takes initiative before asking for help. You will not always have full context on every project from day one, and that is expected. What we need is someone who digs in first: reviews the project history, re-reads the brief, thinks through what is actually being asked, and arrives with a well-formed question or a proposed path forward rather than just a problem. Resourcefulness and intellectual curiosity are just as important here as experience.

What You’ll Own

Day-to-day communication and relationship management for a portfolio of retainer clients

Translating client requests and feedback into clear, developer-ready tasks in ClickUp

Maintaining and prioritizing client backlogs, ensuring the most important work is always moving forward

Writing user stories and task briefs that give developers the context they need to execute without back-and-forth

Reviewing completed work before it reaches the client, confirming it matches the original request, and deciding whether to deliver it or return it to the team for revision

Running or participating in client calls, status updates, and scope conversations

Closing the loop between developers and clients without escalating to senior leadership

Managing project timelines and keeping deliverables on trackgis

Monitoring client health and proactively flagging issues before they become problems

Growing into additional accounts over time, including more strategic client relationships

What We’re Looking For

Experience in a web development or an agency environment. You understand how websites and web applications get built.

Working knowledge of CMS platforms. Craft CMS experience is a strong plus, though familiarity with any major CMS demonstrates the right foundation.

Comfort with backlog management and prioritization. You know how to take a pile of client requests and turn them into an ordered, actionable list.

Solid understanding of basic SEO concepts and web development fundamentals

Strong written and verbal communication skills. You can write a clear email to a client and a clear task brief for a developer, and you understand those are two very different things.

Comfortable with project management tools. We use ClickUp.

Genuinely client-facing. You like talking to people, you are professional and warm, and clients trust you.

Enough technical fluency to have a credible conversation with a developer without needing a translator

A natural problem-solver who takes initiative to understand a situation fully before moving it forward. You do not wait to be told what to think about a problem.

Self-directed and organized. This is a remote role and you will be managing multiple client relationships simultaneously.

Sound judgment. You know when to make a call and when to elevate.

Nice to Have

Hands-on experience with Craft CMS

Familiarity with agile or scrum workflows, including writing user stories and managing a product backlog

Familiarity with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, or SEO reporting tools

Experience coordinating with or managing a small development team
