Overview
This role involves delivering education on disease state, patient identification, NF1 PN management, and Rare Disease product information to health care professionals (HCPs) primarily in regional hospital and center of excellence settings within a defined geographic territory. The individual is responsible for sales achievement and relationship development across the entire patient journey within aligned institutions and surrounding hospital service areas. The role supports Alexion AstraZeneca Rare Disease in positioning as a leader in NF1 PN Treatment by developing long-term relationships with Key Customers and maintaining a high level of clinical expertise by utilizing medical information resources. The role includes developing and implementing clinical sales presentations to groups of healthcare personnel and maximizing physician contact by networking within accounts and at medical meetings.
Responsibilities
Consistently achieving or exceeding sales objectives in the assigned territory and executing tailored hospital selling to drive results.
Creating and maintaining strategically targeted account-specific business plans that reflect an in-depth understanding of local market forces impacting product sales.
Developing and maintaining strong in-depth clinical, technical, and scientific knowledge, and engaging in dialogue at a high clinical level.
Collaborating with stakeholders including TLLs, SALs, MSLs, FRMs, Market Access, Diagnostics, and other Enterprise partners.
Handling customer questions and objections in a manner consistent with product indications and sales training; triaging inquiries to appropriate partners as needed.
Educating on the clinical approach to disease state to enable accurate diagnosis.
Understanding and demonstrating proper use of the product to clinicians and the health care team in a hospital environment.
Leading the implementation of a patient-centric partnership model involving physicians, staff, patients, clinics, and hospitals.
Seeking out and qualifying leads and profiling new accounts.
Tracking activities and submitting reports on sales activities accurately and on time.
Proactively interacting with Alexion management to refine product and market initiatives.
Managing time, priorities, CRM tool, resources, and workload effectively and efficiently.
Performing work in alignment with and adhering to all Alexion Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and Alexion policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum 6 years Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical sales experience, including 3 years calling on Institutions and hospital systems.
At least 2 years of documented, successful pharmaceutical/healthcare sales in Oncology/Rare Disease or relevant experience.
Demonstrated ability to handle the complexity of systems approaches and to lead multidisciplinary teams in institutions.
Strong institutional navigation and stakeholder influence mapping capabilities.
Ability to engage diverse specialties and disciplines.
Proven track record for delivering consistent, top-tier sales results in institutions and hospital systems.
Ability to work effectively independently and in a team-oriented, interdependent environment.
Proven ability to seek out and qualify leads and profile new accounts.
Ability to gain consistent access and develop strong, professional relationships for scientific exchange and promotion with healthcare providers in institutions, IDNs, and academic centers.
Effective time management, CRM usage, and workload management.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and organizational abilities.
Ability to travel within territory on a regular basis, including frequent overnight and weekend travel.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
The duties of this role are generally conducted in a field environment. The employee must be able to travel by public transportation, automobile, train, or plane; work in clinical settings; use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; problem-solve; engage in complex and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; and maintain general availability during standard business hours.
Preferred
Minimum 6 years Pharmaceutical or equivalent experience (e.g., Biotech or Medical Device), including 3 years of biotechnology/pharmaceutical sales experience calling on Institutions and hospital systems.
