Position Objective Lead our efforts to reach high school and college students on social media with our youth program, peta2. In this position, you’ll oversee content creators and work with students and peta2 interns to create compelling, engaging content to inspire young people to care about animal liberation.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties Manage peta2’s social media presence and strategy across a variety of social media platforms, including Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok
Work with the peta2 management team to grow peta2’s digital impact by helping drive more traffic to peta2.com, grow our mobile program, increase social engagement, and manage and advise on evolving digital strategies
Direct peta2’s social media team and interns in creating compelling text and imagery content for peta2’s various social media accounts. Content must be emotionally evocative and tell a story with minimal words and well-designed images that fit the trends young people relate to.
Create and advise creators on content that will reach high school and college-aged students about animal liberation
Supervise members of peta2’s social media team
Hire and train new staff as needed
Track and analyze peta2's social media efforts to consistently increase effectiveness and participation
Help with peta2’s influencer and collaboration efforts
Research current trends in social media and youth marketing and apply those principles and strategies to peta2’s efforts
Work with others in peta2 and PETA leadership on the overall goals and strategy for PETA's actions to reach and engage young people
Work with PETA’s ad team to develop and track ads for peta2’s social media accounts—reporting on success, recommending changes, and being an expert in effective ads for our audience
Understand and advise on PETA’s stance, SOPs, and other formalities thoroughly to ensure staff is following all of the above
Assist in efforts to boost correspondence and engagement through social media comments and messages, being the go-to for social media responses as needed
Review content from team members, including after-hours when needed
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Requirements Degree in a related field or proven knowledge of social media strategies and implementation and online advocacy
Minimum of five years of marketing experience in online advocacy and social media for an organization, personality, or business
Experience with Google Analytics and other tracking platforms
Proven effective leadership experience
Demonstrated understanding of complex marketing concepts and strategies
Proven excellent leadership skills, strategic-thinking skills, and long-term vision
Proven exceptional analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
Thorough knowledge of animal liberation issues and PETA campaigns
Thorough understanding of youth culture
Proven ability to conduct and analyze marketing research
Self-motivation and the ability to focus on both team and individual goals and objectives
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
Adherence to a vegan diet
Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues
Commitment to the objectives of the organization
