Job Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Director of Strategic Communications, assists in carrying out SCDC's media and digital activities to ensure timely, accurate and consistent communication with the public, staff and the media.
Prepares, plans and posts digital and video content for internal and social channels.
Writes press releases, supports development of media outreach efforts and helps coordinate press events.
Possesses the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Creates and manages content calendars for internal and external audiences.
Handles confidential, high-stakes information and situations with discretion, sound judgment and professionalism, keeping leadership informed.
Works collaboratively with entire communications staff on agency goals and content.
Writes and creates clear and concise messages and content for diverse audiences and channels.
Writes and produces content following AP style using excellent written, verbal and digital communication skills.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree and relevant experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, media arts or a related field plus a minimum of five (5) years of post-college communications-related experience.
Experience in daily journalism.
