Description
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the philanthropic heart of Broadway, is seeking a creative, detail-oriented writer to help bring our mission to life through vibrant, strategic storytelling.

Reporting to the senior content manager, the staff writer will craft compelling content that supports Broadway Cares’ annual events, fundraising campaigns and brand initiatives. This writer will create engaging, mission-driven content across platforms—from fundraising campaigns and event promotions to feature stories about the people and communities impacted by Broadway Cares—while strengthening the organization’s distinctive voice.

Duties and Responsibilities

Draft press releases and coordinate with external PR agency to support media outreach

Write and edit email campaigns that drive event ticket sales and donations

Develop copy for event collateral, signage, digital ads and promotional materials

Report and write feature stories and comprehensive event coverage for Broadway Cares’ twice-yearly magazine, website and other digital platforms

Write news updates and other stories for the website and collaborate with the web developer to keep content current

Collaborate closely with designers, the social media specialist, marketing coordinator and video editor to develop cross‑platform campaigns

Assist in maintaining and evolving the organizational brand voice and messaging guidelines

Actively participate in creative brainstorms around marketing campaigns and events

Participate with the entire Broadway Cares staff in Red Bucket audience appeals, which take place in the evenings and on weekends

Be available for in‑person evening and weekend events and projects, as necessary

Qualifications

2‑5 years of professional writing experience

Passion for the mission of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and an appreciation for Broadway and the performing arts

Exceptional writing and editing skills with strong attention to tone, voice and audience

Mastery of AP style

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Familiarity with tools such as Slack, Monday.com and Google Drive; a base understanding of video editing software is a plus

Flexibility, drive and a sense of humor

An affection for dogs

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $60,000–$70,000 per year, commensurate with experience
