Position Overview
The National Lutheran Choir (NLC) is seeking a motivated and creative Marketing & Communications Coordinator to join our team for the 2026–2027 season, with the possibility for future extension. From managing social media and email campaigns to supporting concert events and donor relations, the Marketing & Communications Coordinator plays a meaningful role in the day-to-day operations of a nationally recognized choral organization.

This is a part-time, contractual role - a strong fit for a skilled communicator building a dynamic freelance portfolio, or for someone who thrives in a flexible, mission-driven environment.

Job Responsibilities

Partners with the Director of Advancement to create email and social media content calendars grounded in the organization's strategic marketing plan.

Leads all email marketing campaigns, including designing templates, managing segmented audience lists, and analyzing campaign performance through metrics and data-driven insights.

Ensures website is current with season and program branding information, makes updates as needed.

Serves as primary social media manager, responsible for scheduling posts and paid advertisements, designing graphics, writing captions, and engaging with followers through comments and direct messages. Collaborates with the Digital Content Producer to plan and publish video content.

Sets up and maintains a ticketing system to facilitate online and point of sale purchases of concert tickets.

Supports database integrity by qualifying new patrons and accurately processing ticket orders, registrations, and donations. Prepares donor acknowledgments and generates patron reports within the CRM system.

Supports in-house mailing projects from preparation through distribution.

Contributes to the writing, editing, and design of four seasonal concert programs.

Assists in developing branded marketing materials using Canva and other design tools.

Represents the organization at all National Lutheran Choir concerts, managing box office operations and supporting front-of-house setup and event coordination.

Qualifications

Experience with Canva or comparable graphic design software.

Experience working with CRM platforms. Salesforce/PatronManager experience preferred.

Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts in a professional or organizational setting.

Experience with email marketing platforms (Emma, MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc.)

Strong customer service orientation with the ability to engage warmly with patrons and donors.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Position Details

Contract Start Date: Flexible after July 1, 2026

Contract End Date: May 31, 2027

Hours: 15-20 hours per week

Compensation: $25-$30/hour, depending on experience

Location: Hybrid - approximately 50% onsite at the NLC office (Normandale Lutheran Church, Edina) and 50% remote. Core working hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, with some evening and weekend availability required for concerts and special events.

Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Director of Advancement (formerly the Director of Development)
