Brief Description
The music specialist is a crucial member of our supplementary classroom staff. The music specialist leads weekly music instruction for students aged 2-11 years old. MSGL also holds an annual Spring Program. We rely on our music instructor to prepare a performance for the children of each classroom and help children give a presentation to the entire school community. We would like to fill this roll immediately.

Responsibilities

4 of our Early Childhood classrooms. Each session is 25 minutes with 5 minutes transition between classes.

1 of our Toddler classrooms. Each session is for 20 minutes with a 10 minute transition.

2 Elementary classrooms. Each session is 35 minutes with a 5-minute transition between each.

Organize and lead the Spring Program which includes a concert performance for each classroom listed above. We expect the music specialist to work with concert venue staff, parent volunteers and school staff to organize the program. The Spring Program serves as both our annual corporation meeting and as a concert for parents to see their children all together with their classmates.

Dedicate up to 4 hours per week to plan lessons and prepare for classroom instruction.

Qualifications

Previous experience with classroom instruction, preferably as a music teacher. Candidates experienced with theater production or individual instruction are welcome to apply.

Ability to play an instrument and understand introductory concepts in music theory and performance.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.

Commitment to Montessori education principles and the mission of the non‑profit organization.
