Overview
The Paramount Theater of Charlottesville seeks an interesting thinker and doer for the role of Creative Designer. As part of a lean and mighty Communications team, you will put your experience and skills to work on a high number of print, digital, and physical projects each year. With nearly 300 events each year, The Paramount is never short on activity or excitement. For the right candidate, making a personal and artistic contribution to a historic theater located in the heart of downtown Charlottesville is the professional calling you’ve been waiting for.
Responsibilities
Quarterly Playbill design (print, 72 pages)
Biannual newsletter design (print, 16 pages)
Event asset management and support
Creation and management of print and digital advertisements, posters, and signage
Administration of box office and box office window displays
Presentation collaboration and support
Website maintenance
Other duties as assigned (see “a la” note)
In addition to the above, you will be expected to engage with event volunteers, interact with Board members, and move about a crowd of patrons.
Technical Skills
Adobe Suite – Photoshop and InDesign (must), Lightroom and Illustrator (bonus), Premier (double bonus)
WordPress
Canva
Email platform/CRM familiarity (Constant Contact, MailChimp, HubSpot, etc.)
Microsoft Office
Soft Skills
Imagery and fun: bring creative ideas, listen, handle challenges and curveballs, and maintain a level‑headed approach
Outgoing outward self when interacting with patrons and board members
Comfort with visibility – your work will be saw by many people and handle criticism
Compensation & Benefits
Full‑time, salaried, exempt from overtime. Salary range $62,000-$67,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include paid time off, parental leave, health, dental, vision, paid parking, HSA and 401(k) plans with company contributions.
