Clark Construction seeks a proposal and marketing professional to join our creative, collaborative, and high‑energy team. You will assist pursuit teams in creating innovative proposals, presentations, and other materials that help Clark win projects.
This full‑time, in‑office position is based in Chicago, Illinois; Houston, Texas; or Nashville, Tennessee. Some travel is required.
Responsibilities
Proactively lead and drive multiple, concurrent high‑value proposals while providing assistance and/or oversight on additional assignments—such as reviewing other team members’ proposals, crafting high‑quality, customized resumes and project pages, and completing qualification packages or bid support—by effectively delegating and overseeing tasks of team members and specialty contributors.
Organize and lead proposal teams; build positive relationships with operational staff to facilitate team collaboration, creativity, and effectiveness.
Develop and execute winning RFQ and RFP responses, actively leading and delivering at all stages of proposal development, including writing, editing, and visual communication.
Write and/or edit compelling proposal content that directly responds to questions in the RFQ or RFP.
Maintain full ownership for delivering a compliant proposal document.
Develop and edit presentation materials for team interviews. Initiate presentation preparation and critique public speaking skills.
Maintain Clark’s corporate brand standards across all marketing deliverables, including effectively implementing the company’s proposal and presentation templates in InDesign and PowerPoint, respectively.
Maintain company information, materials, and associated marketing databases as required.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of relevant and successful proposal management experience in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry or other professional services.
Bachelor’s degree with a major in Marketing, Communications, English, Business, Political Science, or other relevant focus of study in writing, communication, and critical analysis.
Proven experience coordinating and managing complex proposal efforts.
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite—primarily InDesign—for professional document design, layout, and production.
Proficiency in using Microsoft PowerPoint for slideshow presentations.

Preferred Qualifications
Confident personality with the ability to think strategically and help teams develop sound marketing, pursuit, and proposal strategies.

Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills and the ability to coordinate the activities of various team members when faced with multiple deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to write and communicate clearly and compellingly, with a strong command of English grammar and attention to detail.
A good eye for visualization, layout, and graphic design to facilitate appealing and effective communication using desktop publication software.
Creativity and resourcefulness, with the ability to execute creative ideas effectively.
Strong work ethic and problem‑solving skills with a hands‑on and team‑oriented attitude.
Physical Requirements
Given that a good portion of your day will be spent at a desk, you should be comfortable with prolonged periods of focused work, whether it’s collaborating with colleagues, analyzing data, or developing strategies. The role demands effective communication and sharp visual acuity for reviewing complex documents and performing detailed computer work. While there are times for quiet concentration, you’ll also be expected to move actively throughout the office and travel occasionally to various locations, including dynamic construction sites, utilizing different modes of transportation. The ability to lift and move objects up to 10 pounds regularly, and up to 25 pounds on occasion (think a box of files or small office equipment), is also required.
Compensation and Benefits
Clark offers a total compensation package that includes base salary, bonus potential, and a comprehensive benefits package including health/dental/vision benefits, paid time off, retirement/401(k), and company contribution plan. Additional benefits include life insurance, commuter benefit, short and long‑term disability, fitness reimbursement, FSA, tuition reimbursement, backup daycare, tutoring and family support benefits, EAP/Work‑Life assistance, and a holiday contribution program. For this role the base salary range is $75,000 – $90,000. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on factors such as education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
