Position Summary
The Vice President, Client Services is a key member of Deerfield Group's senior leadership, responsible for leading multiple account teams, strengthening client partnerships, and shaping strategic business direction. This role drives client satisfaction and sustainable growth by championing collaboration, delivering strategic insight, and proactively identifying opportunities to enhance revenue and market position.
Key Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Strategy
- Responsible for the oversight of multiple accounts inclusive of ensuring delegation of responsibilities across team members, proactive resource management and overall client satisfaction.
- Proactively identify client needs and challenges to deliver strategic solutions, oversee junior staff in anticipating next steps, and manage client escalations with professionalism.
- Serve as a trusted advisor, nurturing long-term client relationships and ensuring overall satisfaction.
- Lead strategic planning, brand development, and execution for clients, providing high-level guidance to teams.
- Translate clients’ business needs into actionable marketing and strategic solutions.
- Collaborate with clients on long-term planning (yearly brand planning), launch planning, strategy, and execution.
Business Growth & Development
- Develop and execute strategic plans that align client goals with organizational objectives, leveraging market insights and client needs to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
- Identify and pursue account growth opportunities for existing and prospective clients, including cross-selling agency services.
- Develop and deliver persuasive proposals, RFP responses, and presentations to prospective clients.
- Develop presentations and lead new business pitches, driving agency revenue and market share.
Team Oversight & Collaboration
- Demonstrates a hands-on, collaborative approach – actively contributing alongside team members to deliver results – while consistently setting a high standard through personal performance and leadership by example, driving the team to exceed collective goals.
- Oversee multiple account teams, ensuring optimal delegation, resource management, and consistent delivery of results.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation among cross-functional teams (creative, media, strategy, analytics, editorial).
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and career development for team members.
Operational & Financial Management
- Oversight of account budgets to ensure account profitability, oversee budgets, and meet financial targets.
- Anticipate and resolve client or internal escalations, providing thoughtful, strategic solutions.
- Regularly communicate progress, strategic recommendations, and performance updates to internal and client stakeholders.
- Provide timely support to senior leadership on both planned and ad hoc business initiatives.
- Identify gaps or areas for improvement in account management and present actionable recommendations to leadership.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field, advanced degree a plus
- 15+ years advertising agency experience
- 6+ years management experience
- Pharmaceutical agency Industry experience required
Required Skills
- Proven track record of building and maintaining senior-level client partnerships, with demonstrated success in growing key accounts and winning new business, specifically within the pharmaceutical advertising industry; including new product launches
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, including mentoring and developing high-performing teams across disciplines.
- Demonstrated financial acumen with experience managing multi-million dollar budgets, profitability, and operational efficiency.
- Deep understanding of regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical sector (e.g., FDA, OPDP, industry codes of practice).
- Experience overseeing cross-functional teams and leading change or transformation initiatives within an agency environment.
- Expertise in integrated marketing, omnichannel campaigns, and data-driven decision making
- Flexible and solution-oriented approach, with outstanding problem-solving capabilities in high-pressure environments.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to influence both internally and externally.
- Strong financial acumen - demonstrated success in ensuring cost effectiveness and productivity
- Expert knowledge of applications: Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets, Microsoft PowerPoint / Google Slides, Microsoft Word / Google Docs
