WTVA is looking for a News Anchor who is ready to be the face of Tupelo, leading our coverage with urgency, authority, and a digital-first mindset. Duties / Responsibilities
Anchor daily newscasts: Lead three daily newscasts with confidence and conversational energy, ensuring audiences stay informed and engaged.
Own the story: Go beyond the desk to report in the field, bringing audiences closer to the stories that impact their lives through compelling live shots and deep‑dive reporting.
Drive digital engagement: Be a savvy voice on social media and our online platforms, sharing breaking news and behind‑the‑scenes content where audiences live.
Collaborate with the team: Work side-by-side with producers and reporters to craft cohesive, multi‑platform coverage that wins the day.
Represent the station: Serve as a true ambassador for WTVA, attending local events and building authentic relationships within the Tupelo community.
Craft the narrative: Assist in writing and producing stories, ensuring every script is punchy, accurate, and ready for prime time.
Qualifications / Requirements
A four-year degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
2+ years of anchor or reporter experience, handling the pressure of a live newsroom.
Excellent communication skills: a great writer who can tell stories that stick, whether a 30‑second reader or long‑form digital piece.
Digital‑first mindset: comfortable navigating social media and online platforms to reach audiences wherever they are.
Team‑player attitude: thrives in a collaborative environment and is ready to help a producer or fellow reporter.
Urgency and empathy: cares deeply about the stories and the people they affect, bringing a human touch to every broadcast.
