Our client, a Global Beauty Brand is seeking a Freelance Spatial Event Designer (Manager level) for a contract position. The role requires on-site presence 4 days/week in the Soho offices – please do not apply if you are not able to accommodate this request.

Position Summary
Responsible for supporting the Director, Global Experiential & Events Design. The role of Manager requires incredible creativity and ability to provide detailed renderings of event and in‑store distortion concepts, as well as technical guidelines. Additionally, the position must uphold the highest standard of event design and execution for all 3D/2D assets to ensure brand delivers innovative, world‑class creative expressions for all events and brand experiences.

The Manager will be responsible for Global In‑Store and Out of House Events Design. This individual will partner with the Director to develop innovative and compelling event design and in‑store distortions in partnership with team collaborators and external department leads that support global and regional campaign experiences. They will contribute conceptual design ideas and create detailed renderings of event elements for in‑store/off‑site retail events and larger public‑facing brand expressions. This individual will research latest event trends and develop inventive and captivating ideas. They will provide strategic guidance to local markets throughout the event planning process. They will attend Global cross‑functional meetings to understand deliverables, timelines and project details. Additionally, be prepared to provide and share project details and updates.

Principle Accountabilities

Work with the Director to develop concepts and research of innovative design, trends, technologies for event campaigns and in‑store distortions including windows, bays, displayers, play table, MU Consultations etc.

Ability to manage design projects from conception to execution

Proficient ability to develop and present multiple design concepts

Develop working knowledge of brand identity and aesthetics, with an extraordinary attention to detail

Knowledgeable in Fixture, Set & Stage Design with an interest fabrication/production process

Visualize and render professional level artwork for Window and Event concepts

Responsible in tracking and monitoring all steps of creative process that adhere to project‑defined timelines

Understands 3D modeling principals and can provide daily support to the Experiential Design team

Produce concept and design renderings for all levels of brand Retail Environments and Special Events

Collaborate with design team to produce comprehensive design packets for regional execution

Produce 2D and 3D artwork based on renderings for both Events and Retail Environments

Occasionally assist on site for NYC area installations

Commit to using current systems (e.g., Wrike, iCloud, google drive, Dropbox, Slack, Microsoft Office, etc.)

Organize and maintain library of all relevant design‑related creative assets

Strong team spirit with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills

Passion for cosmetic retailing and entrepreneurial work environment

Contribute to the Design Manual and fixture library

Position Requirements

BA or BFA of Interior Design, Stage and Set Design, or Architecture is required

5+ Years of experience in either Event Design, Store Design, Graphic Design, and Visual Merchandising required

Highly proficient in 3D modeling programs including: SketchUp, Rhino

Comprehensive knowledge of 2D technical skills in AutoCAD

Ability to visually communicate through quick hand sketch in meetings, take detailed notes, and recap

Proficient in 3D rendering with SketchUp + Vray preferred or Rhino + Podium and/or Keyshot

Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop

Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment and contribute ideas

Excellent verbal and visual communication skills

Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment

Superior organizational skills

Deadline oriented and ability to self‑manage

Understanding and strong interest in design /fashion /beauty / retail / technology & material innovations / and the aptitude to translate these ideas into reality

Knowledgeable of fabrication, printing, and prop materials

Model building/ hand crafting skills

Comfortable with light physical labor, building materials and setup

Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Slack, Trello, Google docs.
