Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Roanoke, VA. As a News Producer, you will oversee the production of newscasts, ensuring seamless execution and adherence to deadlines. Responsibilities include selecting and organizing stories, writing broadcast scripts, coordinating with reporters and anchors, managing studio logistics, and making last‑minute adjustments as breaking news develops. You will collaborate closely with the newsroom team to maintain the station's high editorial standards and deliver compelling content to viewers.
Qualifications

Strong skills in news writing, story selection, and script development
Experience in newsroom coordination, live studio production, and segment planning
Knowledge of breaking news workflows and ability to make real‑time decisions under pressure
Proficiency in journalism standards, editorial integrity, and audience engagement practices
Familiarity with news production software and related digital tools
Excellent communication and organization skills with an attention to detail
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred
Professional experience in a broadcast newsroom is a strong advantage
