Rock Point Commons (130 acres of publicly accessible conserved lands on the shores of Lake Champlain in Burlington, Vermont) partners with Burlington Wildways and the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board AmeriCorps (VHCB AmeriCorps) to offer a Community Stewardship Coordinator position. The role focuses on strengthening environmental stewardship and education capacity. The appointment is half‑time, starting June 22 2026 and ending December 18 2026, requiring 915 hours (average 40 hours per week) over six months. Members receive a living allowance of $16,147 (pre‑tax) and an education award of $3,697.50 (pre‑tax) upon successful completion of service.
The position requires work in all weather conditions, including both weekdays and weekends.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and lead environmental education programming for the public
Help lead and manage volunteer programs and community service days
Serve as a guide to Rock Point’s nature center, welcoming visitors and designing and leading community engagement activities
Support stewardship of Rock Point’s natural areas, orchards, gardens, and trails
Participate in an Independent Service Project under the guidance of VHCB AmeriCorps
Participate in all VHCB AmeriCorps Program Initiatives & outreach activities to promote AmeriCorps
Engage in professional and personal development activities and networking opportunities
