Position is located on-site in Commerce, TX.
Travel is required.
Ability to drive to schools and events across the region, including moving between multiple sites within a single day.
Occasional evening and weekend commitments outside of traditional working hours.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree.
Four years of experience in leading programs or projects, or program coordination in related area such as event planning, communication, and organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Oral and written proficiency in Spanish.
Two years of prior experience working with youth in a school, community organization, or college/career counseling capacity.
Ability to provide accurate advising related to post‑secondary pathways, including working knowledge of admissions requirements for trade schools, 2‑year, and 4‑year institutions.
Alumnus of East Texas A&M University.
Have resided within, or have demonstrated strong ties to, the communities served in East Texas.
Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service with a strong focus on responsiveness, problem solving, and building positive community relationships.
Knowledge of the importance of education and its impact on economic and social mobility.
Experience working with different groups including first‑generation college students and low‑income students.
Experience working with schools and school districts in rural communities in a college access role.
Ability to solve complex problems and independently make decisions.
Experience with college recruitment and admissions, academic advising, or college counseling.
Experience planning post‑secondary related programming for students and parents.
Knowledge of FAFSA, TASFA, and college application processes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong communication and public presentation skills.
Skilled in time and task management, including multi‑tasking and tracking the status of action items.
Skilled in basic office tools including Outlook and Microsoft Suite.
Experience building collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders including teammates, school staff, community partners, students, and families.
Ability to track and analyze basic student assessment and engagement data to develop reports related to impact and program outcomes.
Experience in youth programs such as camps, after‑school programs, community programs, working in underrepresented communities, etc.
Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary for programming.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement
Executes youth engagement lessons using Office curriculum and resources in K‑12 schools, community spaces, and with youth and their families.
Facilitate collaboration with community organizations, schools, stakeholders, and the Texas Rural Education Collaborative to expand engagement efforts, build meaningful connections, and promote post‑secondary pathway awareness.
Identify and participate in community activities and events as opportunities arise, ensuring a proactive and responsive presence that aligns with community needs and interests.
Record student engagement and post‑test data to support Office impact and efforts.
Maintain a calendar of engagement activities including school workshops, community events, and other engagement opportunities.
Initiate regular contact with stakeholders, counselors, and administrators in support of LevelUp Texas.
Coordination & Event Planning
Plan and execute programs and events to raise community awareness of resources and programs related to post‑secondary access and East Texas A&M University programs.
Host community events to increase awareness of LevelUp Texas and East Texas A&M University and distribute relevant resources to youth and their families.
Conduct all pre‑ and post‑program communication with teachers, students, parents, and other stakeholders as needed.
Proactively identify and implement methods for publicizing and promoting the activities of LevelUp Texas.
Support marketing and coordination for major LevelUp Texas programs including preview days, East Texas A&M University collaborative early outreach events, and signature programs.
Partner with other East Texas A&M University offices and Texas Rural Education Collaborative members to coordinate visits and extend invitations to participate at community events.
Relationship Cultivation & Support
Identify, nurture, and sustain relationships, communication, and collaboration between and among the Office for Youth Engagement, East Texas A&M University, community‑based organizations, and priority schools and districts.
Assist at university and community events locally to increase awareness of LevelUp Texas and distribute relevant resources to youth and families.
Initiate and facilitate meetings to provide regular touchpoints with stakeholders, counselors, and administrators to review program impact and effectiveness.
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships between LevelUp Texas, the Texas Rural Education Collaborative, East Texas A&M University, and community‑based organizations to maximize shared impact.
Administrative
Submit monthly progress reports documenting progress and outcome data.
Provide feedback and recommendations on curriculum and resources for improvement or development.
Assist with duties related to regional operations, including reporting, expense tracking, strategic planning, and developing protocols for programming.
Assist in managing documentation, records, and analysis of LevelUp Texas’ regional partnerships and sponsorships.
Create and manage inventory of publications, promotional items, and other programmatic materials in the region.
Assist office leadership to fulfill order requests in a timely and cost‑effective manner.
