We’re looking for a Detroit-based freelance content creator to help us build out high-quality restroom listings in and around downtown Detroit.

This is a paid freelance opportunity for someone who enjoys exploring the city, taking photos, visiting local businesses, and creating useful local content.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Shooki is hiring a Freelance Field Content Creator / Restroom Reviewer to visit local businesses, restaurants, coffee shops, bars, hotels, venues, and public spaces to document restrooms for the Shooki app.

The main focus of this role is simple:

Go out in and around downtown Detroit, take clear restroom photos, write short reviews, rate the restroom experience, and submit helpful restroom content for the Shooki app.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Visit restrooms in and around downtown Detroit and nearby neighborhoods

Take clear photos of restrooms, sinks, mirrors, stalls, amenities, decor, and overall condition

Submit honest restroom ratings based on cleanliness, vibe, accessibility, privacy, lighting, and overall experience

Write short, helpful restroom reviews that are easy for users to understand

Document amenities such as accessibility, baby-changing stations, gender options, cleanliness, lighting, and photo-worthy design

Add or update restroom listings in the Shooki app

Identify restaurants, bars, coffee shops, hotels, venues, public spaces, and hidden gems that should be added to Shooki

Make sure all content is accurate, original, and based on real visits

Be respectful and professional when visiting businesses and public spaces

Avoid photographing people, private areas, or anything inappropriate

Ask for permission when needed, especially in smaller businesses or private venues

COMPENSATION
This is a paid freelance contractor opportunity.

Compensation will likely be based on the number of approved restroom reviews submitted. The final pay structure is still being finalized, but expected compensation may be around $5 per approved restroom review, with the opportunity to earn up to approximately $500 per month depending on volume, quality, and business needs.

Approved reviews should include clear photos, accurate location information, a rating, and a short written review.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Based in Detroit or Metro Detroit

Comfortable traveling around downtown Detroit and nearby neighborhoods

Interested in photography, content creation, local exploration, startups, or mobile apps

Has a good eye for clean, clear, useful photos

Comfortable using a mobile phone to take photos and submit content

Reliable, organized, and able to work independently

Interested in Detroit culture, local businesses, restaurants, bars, events, and hidden gems

Able to follow basic content guidelines

Comfortable walking into local businesses and documenting restroom experiences respectfully

NICE TO HAVE

Experience with iPhone or mobile photography

Familiarity with downtown Detroit restaurants, bars, hotels, venues, and events

Interest in social media content creation

Ability to identify unique, clean, stylish, or useful restrooms

Comfort writing short captions, notes, or mini reviews

Interest in helping build a startup from the ground up
