Marketing Coordinator

The Arlington Economic Development (AED) Department is seeking a dynamic Marketing Coordinator for the Arlington Convention and Visitors Service (ACVS) Division. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, this role is responsible for creating and publishing engaging content creation across tourism marketing channels, including the StayArlington website, social media, blogs, and e-newsletters. As an in-house influencer, the coordinator will proactively uncover what's new in Arlington and build strong relationships with local hospitality partners. Through compelling written and video content, they will enthusiastically generate audience engagement, promote the All in Arlington brand, and connect visitors to the community.

Responsibilities

Specific duties include:
Develop inclusive content that highlights Arlington's unique destinations, experiences, and community stories;
Manage hospitality partner collaborations, create short-form video content, curate user-generated content, and drive audience engagement;
Lead social media strategy and content execution across Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and emerging platforms;
Manage website content, partner listings, and event calendars through content management system (CMS) and other platforms;
Apply SEO best practices, help to monitor and apply evolving AI trends, and support continuous digital optimization;
Prepare and analyze website and social media performance reports using Google Analytics (GA4) and other analytics tools; and
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and proactive team player and will have the following:
Ability to support Marketing and Destination Sales & Visitor Services projects and initiatives and partner with AED divisions on complementary marketing efforts.
An effective working knowledge of the hospitality industry in Arlington and the U.S. capital region.
Effective communication skills and the ability to prioritize work, manage time, multi-task and be flexible.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Tourism, Marketing, Business, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field; and
Some experience in Marketing, Communications, Advertising or Public Relations.
Substitution:

Additional directly related experience can substitute for the education requirement.
Desirables : Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
Marketing, Advertising and/or Public Relations at a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO), Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), or at a tourism-related organization (i.e. hotel, tourist attraction, event venue, restaurant group) or chamber of commerce or business improvement district;
Photography and video creation/editing for use on social media;
Use of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and Content Management System (CMS); and
Digital publishing (experience with Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and/or similar) and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook) skills.

Background Check : A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. It will include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You will be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.
Driver's License : Applicants must possess, or obtain by appointment, a valid driver's license and authorize Arlington County to review their driving record, which may be a condition of employment. Alternatively, applicants must be able to use other transportation methods to perform duties at locations beyond the primary worksite.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Work hours:

Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a hybrid office policy requiring employees to be in office at least three days a week. The employee must be able to travel and attend local, state, and national events even if outside normal working hours.
