Real Estate Legal Specialist (Senior Paralegal)
Our client is a major holder of land, leading developer of real estate and award-winning homebuilder in New Mexico.

We are seeking a Real Estate Legal Specialist (Senior Paralegal). This position will report to the Vice President/General Counsel. This role may be filled by an experienced paralegal, or a high-level legal assistant with significant experience in law, real estate, property title work, contract drafting, and negotiations. The ideal candidate will support acquisitions and sales, leasing, title review, clearing clouds on title, and other legal department needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Real Estate Transactions (Acquisitions, Sales, Development & Leasing)

Support real property acquisitions and sales, including drafting/reviewing purchase agreements, amendments/addenda, exhibits, closing deliverables, and post-closing files.

Draft, review, and help negotiate real estate‑related documents (including leases, amendments, notices, and related correspondence).

Coordinate with title companies, escrow, surveyors, engineers, municipalities, consultants, and outside counsel to keep transactions moving on schedule.

Track transaction timelines, key dates, deliverables, and approvals; maintain organized transaction checklists and files.

Title, Plat, Survey & Due Diligence

Review and analyze title commitments, exception documents, recorded instruments, legal descriptions, and related due diligence materials.

Assist with clearing title issues and ‘clouds on title,’ including coordinating curative items with title companies and other parties.

Review plat maps, easements, restrictive covenants, and other real property documents; identify issues for counsel/leadership review.

Support development‑related due diligence and documentation, including gathering and organizing project records.

Contract Drafting, Review & Negotiation Support

Prepare contract drafts, redlines, summaries, and issue lists for internal review; help drive documents to execution.

Support negotiations by tracking open items, coordinating revisions, and communicating document status with internal and external stakeholders.

Help standardize templates and improve processes for contract management and document control.

QUALIFICATIONS

Significant experience supporting attorneys and/or executives in real estate transactions, title/escrow, and contract‑driven work (law firm or in‑house preferred).

Demonstrated ability to review title documents, recorded instruments, legal descriptions, and plat maps with a high degree of accuracy.

Paralegal certificate/degree is a plus but not required with equivalent experience.

Strong organizational skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, and strong attention to detail.

Excellent computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe.

Ability to manage multiple deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and work both independently and as part of a team.

General understanding of the construction and land development industry is a plus.

Anticipated Salary: $80k +/-
