Job Description
The Senior Financial Analyst, TODAY & NBC News will have operational finance and accounting responsibilities related to managing broadcast and publishing business areas. Key responsibilities include C&B and production cost management, monthly close, and forecasting support. This role will work across the entire TODAY Brand including all broadcast hours, website, streaming channel, audio offerings, subscription products, as well as the NBC News Publishing organization. This role reports into the Director, TODAY Finance.
Perform all necessary analysis to support day to day rev/cost management including running general ledger reports, updating cost trackers, and investigating variances.
Complete all journal entries required for monthly close including production cost and revenue accruals, cash receipts, balance sheet management, and expense reclasses between business areas.
Prepare dashboard reporting on production expenses such as crew labor, T&E, freelance, and software resources for Executive Producers/Editors with tracking toward monthly/ quarterly/ annual budgets
Maintain all aspects of Compensation and Benefits tracking and close, including corporate headcount deliverables, for the News Publishing org. Meet weekly with HR business partners to receive updates on staffing. Maintain detailed forecasting model of all C&B expense and analyze bi-weekly payroll for variances to plan.
Support DTC subscription business revenue modeling and manage production expenses. Perform all necessary monthly close procedures including cash receipts and revenue deferrals
Provide monthly pacing submission and variance explanations for publishing and subscription businesses
Load quarterly estimates in to BPC and prepare variance analysis explanations
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
2+ years of relevant experience.
Excellent computer and analytical skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint
Desired Characteristics
Familiarity with SAP/BPC or similar accounting/ financial reporting software
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines with accuracy
Solid written and oral communication skills
Self-motivated
Interest in television production and TODAY/ other NBC News brands
Hybrid:This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the New York, NY office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
