Position Summary
The Internship Program Manager organizes, implements, and runs the UNC Asheville Internship Program. They lead efforts to increase experiential learning opportunities, conduct prospecting outreach with employers, help internship sites develop strong experiential learning opportunities, provide support during internships, follow up to maintain relationships, and serve as career coach for students. May teach 3 credit IST 325 interdisciplinary internship course.
Position Type & Working Hours
Full‑Time, Exempt. Typical office hours Monday‑Friday 8:00‑5:00, 40‑hour week. Willing to work evenings/weekends as needed for meetings, presentations, and special events.
Required Education / Experience / Skills
Master's degree and at least one year of student development experience. May also consider a bachelor's degree with 3 years of project management or Human Resources (talent acquisition, employee relations, generalist, etc.), and/or student development experience.
Preferred Education / Experience
Master’s degree and two years of experience working with experiential learning and/or internships or bachelor’s degree and 5 years of project management or Human Resources/employee relations experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong communication skills and ability to connect and build rapport with employers in person, via phone, video chat, and email.
Presentation and persuasive skills to build new partnerships with employers who are working with UNC Asheville for the first time.
Ability to connect and build rapport with students.
Organizational, detail‑oriented, problem‑solving and project‑management skills.
Ability to gather and analyze outcomes data to evaluate and improve programs.
Experience with internship programs and HR is a plus.
