Position Summary
The Internship Program Manager organizes, implements, and runs the UNC Asheville Internship Program. The role serves as a member of the Employer Relations team in the Career Center and leads efforts to increase experiential learning opportunities for all students. Key duties include prospecting outreach with employers, fostering the development of robust internship sites, providing support throughout internships, maintaining employer relationships, and coaching students on career goals, competitive resumes, and interview skills. The program manager may also teach a 3‑credit interdisciplinary internship course (IST 325).

Required Education and Experience
Master’s degree and at least one year of student development experience. Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with three years of project management or Human Resources (talent acquisition, employee relations, generalist, etc.) experience, and/or student development experience.

Preferred Education and Experience
Master’s degree and two years experience working with experiential learning and/or internships, or a bachelor’s degree and five years of project management or Human Resources/employee relations experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with employers via in‑person, phone, video, and email interactions.

Presentation and persuasive skills to engage new employer partners.

Ability to connect and build rapport with students.

Organizational, detail‑oriented, problem‑solving, and project‑management skills.

Ability to gather and analyze outcomes data to evaluate and improve programs.

Experience with internship programs and HR is a plus.
