Internship Program Manager
Location:

Blue Ridge Mountains, Western North Carolina.

Position Summary:

The Internship Program Manager organizes, implements, and runs the UNC Asheville Internship Program. As a member of the Employer Relations team in the Career Center, the manager leads efforts to expand experiential learning opportunities for all UNC Asheville students, promotes additional internship programs, and supports students and employers throughout their internship experiences.

Responsibilities

Conduct prospecting outreach with employers in person and electronically.

Help internship sites develop strong experiential learning opportunities and provide ongoing support during internships.

Follow up with employers after internships to maintain relationships and develop future opportunities.

Serve as a career coach for students pursuing internships, helping them develop career goals, competitive resumes, and interviewing skills.

Coach and track internship students after completion to achieve strong post‑graduate outcomes.

May teach a 3‑credit IST 325 interdisciplinary internship course.

Qualifications
Required Education & Experience

Master’s degree and at least one year of student development experience.

Or bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years in project management or HR (talent acquisition, employee relations, generalist, etc.).

Preferred Education & Experience

Master’s degree with two years of experience in experiential learning and/or internships.

Or bachelor’s degree with five years of project management or HR/employee relations experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong communication skills and the ability to connect and build rapport with employers and students through in‑person, phone, video chat, and email.

Presentation and persuasive skills to build new partnerships with first‑time employers.

Organizational, detail‑oriented, problem‑solving, and project management skills.

Ability to analyze outcomes data to evaluate and improve programs.

Experience with internship programs and HR is a plus.

Position Type:

EHRA Staff (Exempt)

Full‑Time Position

12 months per year

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week; willing to work evenings/weekends as needed for meetings, presentations, and special events).

Salary Range: $54,000 – $57,000
